The Helen Farnsworth Mears art contest participants art work is being exhibited at the Dodgeville Public Library until April 6. Thirty-eight seventh and eighth graders from six schools participated in the contest. The schools are: Barneveld, Dodgeville, Highland, Iowa-Grant, Mineral Point and Saint Joseph’s.
The Dodgeville Federated Woman’s Club is sponsoring a People’s Choice Award this year. Anyone can pick up a ballot at the library and vote for their three favorite artists. After April 6, the ballots will be counted and the three top artists will receive prizes.
Local judging for the contest took place March 16. The first, second and third place artwork will be judged at the GFWC – Rolling Hills District meeting on April 11, 2026 in Delavan, WI. The winning artwork from that competition will move on to the GFWC – state competition April 24 at the Ho Chunk Hotel in Baraboo. Helen Farnsworth Mears was a Wisconsin sculptor whose famous work can be viewed at the Capitol in Madison.
