Iowa-Grant’s girls basketball season came to an end last Tuesday night with a 62-31 loss at No. 8 seed Prairie du Chien in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal.
The host Blackhawks (5-19) built a 34-21 halftime advantage, then held the Panthers to just 10 points in the second half, turning the game in favor of the Blackhawks.
Junior Claire Kennedy erupted for a game-high 32 points to lead the Hawks.
Sophomore Rena Pettit and freshman Leah Nelson scored 10 points each to lead the Panthers. Sophomore Trinity Loeffelholz chipped in six points for IG.
Coach Jessica Schultz’s Iowa- Grant Panthers finished the year 4- 21 overall after going 2-12 in the Southwest Activities League to tie Southwestern (6-19, 2-12) for seventh place, just behind Boscobel (7- 18, 3-11).
Mineral Point (21-5, 12-2) and Cuba City (17-8, 12-2) share the SWAL title for a second straight year.
This was the Cubans’ four-straight conference title overall.
