Pecatonica’s softball team held off a late rally by Highland to earn a 4-2 win over the Cardinals in a Six Rivers match-up Thursday.
Katie Jorenby was 2×3 for the Vikings with an RBI, a stolen base and a double. Gretta Schraepfer was 2×3 with an RBI and stolen base. Brooklynn Johnsrud was 1×2 with a double, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Tatum Kurschner was 1×2 with a triple and an RBI.
Sam Hittesdorf was on the slab and earned the win. She went seven innings, with three Ks, two walks, and gave up two earned runs and two hits.
The Vikings scored two in the first then added solo runs in the fourth and fifth.
Highland put across two runs in the top of the seventh. Brinleigh Bollant doubled and Celia Oleson was hit by a pitch. Both moved up on a passed ball and scored on Cora Healy-Dougherty’s single.
The two hits broke up a no-hit bid by Hittesdorf.
Sumaryn Halverson pitched for Highland. She gave up seven hits with five strikeouts and a walk.
