Vikings sweep own triangular

Pecatonica had a sweep in their triangular Saturday, taking down Markesan 11-4 and New Glarus 8-5. The Vikings faced the Hornets in the first game and won even though being outhit 9-8.

Markesan plated three runs in the first and one in the second. The Vikings chipped away with solo runs in the first three frames then exploded for seven in the sixth for a comfortable win

Cooper Schraepfer singled to right field, which helped the Vikings tie the game at four in the bottom of the fifth.

Pecatonica erupted in the bottom of the sixth, scoring seven runs on three hits to take the lead, 11-4. A passed ball allowed two runs to score.

Ashton McNett earned the win for the Vikings in relief. He gave up one hit and no runs over two innings.

Reid Schlimgen had the start for the Vikings. He allowed eight hits and four runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking three.

Cooper Schraepfer and Ashton McNett each collected two hits for Pecatonica. Cooper Schraepfer and Ashton McNett each drove in two runs.

Other hits for the Vikings came from Reed Cassidy, Schlimgen, Luke Leonard and Austin Enloe.

The Vikings scored five in the third, two in the fourth and one in the sixth for the win.

The Vikings only had two hits in the win, a. double by Marty Anderson and a single by Schlimgen. They scored eight unearned runs as the Knights committed seven errors.

Ashton McNett worked four innings with Cooper Schraepfer finishing the last three with the win going to McNett. Both issued a pair of strikeouts.
