The Arena Historians May monthly meeting will be held on Monday, May 18th, at 6:30 p.m. “The Welsh in Iowa County”, with guest speaker Robert Humphries, will be our feature presentation. The meeting, which is free to the general public, will take place at the Arena Diner (formerly known as Grandma Mary’s) in the Brisbane Hall section of the building. AVOCA
Prior to Memorial Day, Thursday, May 22, members of the American Legion Post 335 will meet at the Avoca school parking lot at 5 p.m. They will leave at 5:30 p.m. sharp and head to Pulaski Church on 6763 Highway P. This is the first stop at approx. 6:00 p.m., then to Fairview Church on 2293 Fairview Rd. at approx. 6:30 p.m. At 7:00 p.m. they will be at the Clyde Township, 6610 Highway 130 where the old County shop was, and then lastly at North Otter Creek Cemetery on 6969 Bigelow Hill Road at 7:15 p.m. Names of military veterans buried at each stop will be read. After names are read, a 21 gun salute and taps will take place. All are welcome.

Immaculate Conception Church – Bake Sale and Silent Auction will be held May 16th from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Community/Fellowship Breakfast May 17th from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 am. Wisconsin’s Alice in Dairyland, Sarah Hagenow, will be the guest speaker at the Wednesday, May 20 meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Dodgeville at The Red Room, 108 E. Merrimac St. at noon. The Mineral Point Opera House will have a free screening of the film The Last Waltz on Sunday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. A film directed by Martin Scorsese about the band’s last concert. Donations will be accepted for the Pointer Pantry.
A Mens Bible Study will meet every Tues morning at 9:30 a.m. at the home of Norm Johnson, 908 Fountain Street in Mineral Point. Artist Robert Gorder of Charcoal Expressions LLC in Baraboo, will be hosting a charcoal drawing fundraiser event at the Dodger Bowl on Thursday June 4th from 6 to 8 p.m., and donating half of the proceeds to Sleep in Heavenly Peace – WI Iowa County.
The Iowa County Cancer Coalition will have a Brat Stand and Bake Sale at 101 W. Main Street in Cobb (across from Royal Bank) from 11:00 a.m.to 2:00 p.m. on June 2, July 7 and August 4.
