The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office has issued a correction to a previous daily activity report regarding an incident at Black Hawk Lake.
On April 29, 2026, at approximately 3:03 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Verona Police Department, which had established probable cause to arrest Hanna R. Mathiot, 21, of Verona. Mathiot was believed to be with Troy D. Hall, 49, also of Verona, who was suspected to be at Black Hawk Lake Campground in the Town of Highland.
Hall was known to have nationwide extraditable warrants from New Mexico. Because both individuals were considered potential flight risks, Iowa County Sheriff’s deputies coordinated their response with the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Sheriff’s Office Drone Team.
Hall and Mathiot were taken into custody without incident.
During the arrest, an Iowa County sergeant sustained minor injuries from a dog bite involving one of the suspects’ dogs.
Mathiot was transported to the Verona Police Department and turned over to its custody. She will be referred to the Iowa County District Attorney’s Office on a charge of resisting or obstructing an officer.
Hall remains in custody at the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office pending an extradition hearing.
