I read the campaign mailer Todd Novak just sent out with disgust.
As a Gay kid growing up in Cobb in the 60’s, I have no doubt that Todd experienced times of shame and humiliation, a sad fact for many Gay people.
Todds opponent for the 51st Assembly seat is Ben Gruber, a hard working, stand up, kind of Dad and Husband, who serves his community as a volunteer Fireman and EMT in Arena. Todds feeble attempt to link Ben with this fake, non-issue, (tax payer funded sex change surgeries for inmates in WI) would be laughable if it wasn’t so sinister, calculated and false. (for the record Wisconsin Badgercare does NOT cover sex change surgeries for inmates) The Mailer comes complete with the usual creepy, grainy photos and ominous text.
Instead of focusing on the stuff that we (who pay Todd’s salary) really care about: decent paying jobs, affordable prices, strong public schools, healthcare for the uninsured, and good roads, we get these sleazy ploys, no doubt with more to come.
I see this as just a very sad, desperate, attempt to hang on to power. And even sadder? Todd Novaks entire campaign is basically funded by 3 Billionaires, with unlimited loot.
The truth is, this kind of stuff is exhausting and turns people off from participating in our Democracy. Do your homework people. Attend one of the many town halls Ben Gruber offers and decide for yourself.
