Steven C. Cushman

CASSVILLE – Steven C. Cushman, age 77, passed away on Sunday morning, July 5, 2026, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. He was born on January 22, 1949, in Livingston the son of Cyril “Pat” and Helen (Wehnke) Cushman. Steve was united in marriage to the love of his life for 55 years, Judy Kieler on January 30, 1971, in Cuba City.

Steve graduated from Iowa-Grant High School in 1967 and went to MATC where he enrolled in the Diesel Mechanic program. He then attended Southwest Tech for their auto mechanic course. Steve began his career as a mechanic working out of his dad’s garage before opening Cushman’s Garage in Livingston. He ran that business for five years before becoming the service manager for Town and Country Tire in Platteville.

Steve and Judy eventually relocated to Janesville, where he installed auxiliary heaters on diesel engines. He and Judy helped start Janesville RV, which eventually led them to purchasing their own RV business, Mound View RV in Platteville. They bought the business in 1998 which is still proudly family owned and operated. In 2005, a new facility was built in Belmont. In addition to their RV business, Steve and Judy also purchased Big H Campground in rural Cassville in 2008.

Steve loved being outdoors with his grandkids, hunting and fishing. He loved singing karaoke and traveling to Las Vegas where he had his favorite machines. Steve and Judy enjoyed wintering in Texas and hosting fish frys for their many friends.

Steve is survived by his wife Judy of Cassville, three children: Jennifer (Mark) Stevens of Linden, Angela Cushman (Wyatt Wendhausen) of Dodgeville, and Ryan (Tracy) Cushman of Belmont; eight grandchildren: Hannah (Austin) Einerson, Maci (Jon) Carter, Hunter and Maxton Stevens, Caleb Wendhausen and fiancée Macey Kraisinger, Caitlyn (Avery Rowold) Cushman, Sydney (Cody Cummins) Cushman, and Austin Cushman; three great grandchildren: Landen and Lakelynn Einerson and Wells Carter. Steve is further survived by his sister Kathy (Najmul) Arafin of Edina, MN, and brothers and sisters-in-laws: Jane O’Brien, Mary Kay (Dean) Booth, Ronald Kieler, Randy (Donna) Kieler, Ruth (Steve) Crubaugh, Terry (Kim) Kieler, Cindy (Tim) Morrissey, and a dear uncle Andrew (Jane) Robbins along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law Ambrose and Frances Kieler, and two brothers-in-law John O’Brien and Sam Kieler.

There will be no formal funeral services held in his honor, per Steve’s wishes. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 14, 2026, at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort, WI.
