As Election Day on April 7 approaches, I want to sincerely thank the residents of Dodgeville for the privilege of serving as your Mayor.
Over the last 23 months, we’ve worked hard to keep Dodgeville on solid financial footing. We’ve passed balanced budgets that meet Wisconsin’s expenditure restraint requirements – controlling spending growth while qualifying for additional state aid. In a time of rising costs, that discipline matters.
We’ve also made important investments. We transformed the former Armory into our new City Hall and our temporary library, improving accessibility and functionality for residents. The renovation and expansion of our public library is underway – an investment in our children, families, and lifelong learners.
Just as important, we’ve focused on strengthening our internal operations. We’ve worked to build a more collaborative, cohesive culture among city staff – one built on communication, accountability, and teamwork. Effective local government starts behind the scenes, and I’m proud of the professionalism and dedication of our employees.
This year, we will take the next step by adding a City Administrator position to enhance day-to-day management and long-term planning. That structure will help ensure efficiency, continuity, and strong coordination across departments as our community grows.
We’ve also supported smart economic development through Tax Increment District 3, encouraging private investment that expands our tax base and supports local jobs.
There is more work ahead, and I remain committed to steady, thoughtful leadership focused on practical results.
I respectfully ask you to get out and vote on April 7 for all the important decisions we need to make that will shape the future of our community.
Barry Hottmann Citizen. Mayor of Dodgeville.
