Spring build to provide beds for local children

As spring returns to the area, so does an opportunity for the community to come together and make a tangible difference. A local volunteer group is preparing for its first build of 2026, aiming to provide beds for children in need-thanks in large part to the continued generosity of area supporters.

Donations from churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals have made it possible for the group to replenish supplies, purchase additional sanders and tools, and secure lumber for the upcoming project. Organizers say that level of community support is what keeps their mission moving forward.

The upcoming Spring Bunk Bed Build is scheduled for April 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mueller Implements/Rental, located on YZ next to Farm & Fleet. During the event, volunteers will work together to construct 10 bunk beds-providing a total of 20 beds-each outfitted with extra safety rails.

Community members of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. Volunteers will need to sign a waiver prior to the event and can register online at https://x.gldn.io/BgKWuL08y1b. Those unable to register in advance may also sign up onsite.

Organizers say the builds are about more than just assembling furniture-they are about restoring dignity and comfort to children who may not have a bed of their own.

With tools in hand and a shared sense of purpose, volunteers hope to make this spring build another meaningful step toward ensuring every child has a safe, comfortable place to sleep.
