Roland “Pete” Dyreson, age 74, of Ridgeway, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 9th.
Pete was born on July 12th, 1951 to Milo and Melva (Mickelson) Dyreson. Pete graduated from Barneveld High School in 1969 and went into the Marine Corps. Pete married Lana Oimoen on August 12, 1972 in Daleyville, WI, sharing almost 54 years of marriage. Pete pursued his career of farming, truck driving, and construction.
Pete was hard to pin down for too long. Always on the move between working on the Swenson farm at the saw mill, UTVing, hunting, fishing, golfing, spending winters in Florida, or somewhere helping someone out. He loved working in his shed and keeping up with his own property.
Nothing made him more happy than spending time with his kids and grandson.
Pete could often be found in long drawn out quarrels in the woodshop, tussling with cherry, oak, walnut, and his nemesis … hickory. He rarely lost, often won. Creating stunning every day items like cutting boards, rocking horses, and furniture. Upon hearing of Pete’s passing, the local hardwood trees collectively breathed a sigh of relief.
Pete is survived by his wife Lana, son Devon (Ana) Dyreson, daughter Danielle Dyreson, grandson Elden Dyreson, brother Bernie (Denise) Dyreson, and sister Lois (Bill) Lease and many nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his brother Wayne (Beverly), sister Sandy, brother Eugene “Buster”, brother Floyd “Junior”, father Milo, and mother Melva.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Gorgen McGinley & Ayers Funeral Home in Dodgeville. A Celebration of Pete’s Life will be held later this summer in August of 2026.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for any donations be made to the Barneveld American Legion or the Badger Honor Flight.
