
Robert Gulson Neuendorf passed away on August 2, 2026. Robert (Bob) was born November 23, 1933, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin and was the eldest son of Robert W. and Ethelene (Gulson) Neuendorf. Bob was raised in Montfort, WI and moved to Madison in 1951 where he began a career in sales working for the Wisconsin State Journal. He left sales briefly from 1954-1956 when he served in the United States Army stationed in Germany. When he returned to the United States, he continued his work in sales for Madison Newspapers until 1957. Bob then left the newspaper industry to begin his sales career for Neuendorf Transportation Company (ANR) until his retirement in 1998. He married Rheta (Draves), also Montfort, WI in 1959 and lived happily for many years on Madison’s west side. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed time spent with many dentist friends in the north woods. He was also a Boy Scout leader for troop 120 leading many outings including camping, canoeing and hiking historic trails. He was a season ticket holder for WI Badger football and enjoyed many games at Camp Randall. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his daughters and caring for his grandchildren. He loved to laugh, tell stories and often claimed to be the only conservative in Dane county.
He is survived by his wife, Rheta and daughters Leah (Kevin) Knope of Madison and Lori (Kevin) Konold of Hudson, WI; Grandchildren Rhianna Rae, Jacob Robert and Marina; Brother James (Joyce) of Livingston and Marlene Neuendorf of Rice Lake and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be sent to The American Cancer Society or charity of the donor’s choice.
