Ridgeway News April 26, 2026 April showers bring May flowers; does that include downpours? It is apparent that the bugs make a mess of the car windshield. In Wisconsin, the bugs were not a problem in February. The warmer weather brings on other activities like Home Talent Baseball, Ridgeway Farmers Market, and the Depot Museum.
The Hyde Chapel spring clean and meeting discussion will be happening Saturday, May 2nd starting at 10:30 a.m. If you have a curiosity about belonging to something important in the community, this could be for you. Our ancestors had such pride in this little chapel and it has a history that is special. We are all special in our own way!

I know it is only May, but June events that you should get on your family calendar are as follows. The Iowa County Dairy Breakfast is Saturday, June 6, at Miller Time Farms. Follow different farming activities at Miller Time Farms on Facebook.
The Fly In/Drive In Breakfast at the Iowa County Airport is on Saturday, June 20th. Proceeds will go to both the Dodgeville FCCLA and Cheer Team. The Med Flight helicopter will be on-site, if available. Med Flight is stationed and staffed at the airport which is highly interesting. The airport is an active, unique experience, which is why the Iowa County Board gets updates almost every month.

The Ridgeway Community Center has a new medication drop-off box. The drop-off equipment is easily accessible when the building is open. This is possible because of a grant written by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department. It is suggested to repackage your medications into a ziplock plastic bag. You can also drop the prescription container with the suggested label removed. Remember that many drug complications happen in our own homes because of the availability in that situation. Drop boxes are also located in Mineral Point, Highland, Barneveld, Avoca, and the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office.
I recently read a short story on energy. A couple of decades ago, the energy systems were somewhat stable. The systems had predictable demand matched up to traditional generation and known weather patterns. With the rise of renewables and weather volatility, the grid is more fragile. Energy Poverty, when discussed, is about who can actually afford energy. Energy poverty is beyond income and includes housing quality, health outcomes, and economic mobility. In some cases, inefficient homes are so energy-intensive that it is difficult to solve the problem. Technology is pushing policy, not policy pushing technology.
GPS’s new meaning is Gas Price Surge. This is different from the Ground Positioning Satellite we use for navigating and traveling. When you get highly technical and overlay, we might be staying home more.
Living with Donna and her multiple personalities is interesting. The town cleansweep was successful, so I thought. When I got home she asked how it went and felt like she missed something big. I then went to the garage and all of a sudden Donna was in full shop help mode. I accepted the help but later when I offered to do the dishes I was told that I didn’t know how or where the clean dishes actually go. Patience is good!
