Trenton Reddell oudueled Tanler Ames that resulted in a 3-2 Dodgeville Knights win over the Hollandale Rockies July 4.
The win capped a special day for the Knights as they celebrated the 20th anniversary of the 2006 HTL championship with several team members present. The game also featured a color guard by the local American Legion and VFW along with the National Anthem and God Bless America sung by Brit Grimmer.
Reddell and Ames both went the distance for complete games. Reddell spaced 10 hits and kept the Rockies off the scoreboard until the eighth when they scored twice. He walked two and struck out seven.
Ames was touched for a run in the first and two in the sixth.
Grant Roh was instrumental in all the runs, stealing home in the first and pounding a double in the sixth to score Jon Dreischmeier and Bryce Crubaugh- Lockard, both who had singled.
Roh also had a pair of stolen bases and handled 10 chances at shortstop.
The Rockies scored when Reese Peterson doubled in a run and then Jared Rear, who had walked, scored on a passed ball.
Ames also walked two and struck out seven in an eight hitter.
Roh and Sean Reilly both had two hits for the Knights. Reddell, Dreischmeier, Crubaugh- Lockard and Jack Graber had the rest of the hits.
Rear, Peterson, Trey Gordon and Kacey Helgeson all doubled for the Rockies. Chase Ignatius, Helgeson and Rear all had two hits. Scott Garthwaite, Gordon, Peterson and Ames contributed a hit each.
Monday the Knights spotted Muscoda a 3-1 lead after an inning of play then chipped away for a 13-3 win in eight innings.
Dreischmeier went six innings for the win with an 11 strikeout, three hit, five walk performance. Ty Palzkill completed the mound work with two innings of work. He gave up one hit with two walks and two strikeouts.
Bryce Crubaugh-Lockard, who had played on the Mudcat field in Dodgeville High School’s Sectional championship to earn a trip to the state tournament a couple weeks before, felt at home at the plate with a 4×5, four rbi performance. He also reached base when he was hit by a pitch.
Grant Roh was 3×5 with an rbi. Palzkill also had a multiple hit day going 2×4. Sean Reilly, who was hit by a pitch twice also had a hit as did Justin Baehler who also knocked in two runs to break the game open.
The Knights host Mazomanie tonight, Blanchardville Friday at 7:30 and Argyle Saturday at 1 p.m., both 9-inning games.
