Iowa-Grant used a 17 hit attack to roll past Darlington a SWAL game Thursday.
Trinity Baker smashed a home run while Carley Shores and Emory Riemenapp got into the extra base category with doubles. Baker drove in three runs and Riemenapp two.
The Panthers struck right away in the top of the first inning when Ava Klaas singled in a run. Shores doubled for another run and Presley Lehman singled or another rbi.
Baker then homered to left field, scoring two more runs.
The Panthers scored five runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning. Trinity Baker singled in a run and Riemenapp doubled, scoring two more. Brynne Pettit drew a walk, forcing in a run, and Myah Batton grounded out, scoring one more.
Quinn Hoeper stepped in the circle first for the Panthers. The righthander allowed seven hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Brynne Pettit pitched three innings of scoreless ball for Panthers in relief. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits, striking out five and walking one.
Shores went 3-for-5 at the plate to lea the Panthers in hits. Batton and Baker each drove in three runs, Hoeper, Baker, Klaas, and Lehman each collected multiple hits.
Pettit stole two bases while the Panthers stole seven bases in the game.
