The Iowa-Grant School District High School Forensics Team truly weathered the storm this season, delivering an outstanding performance at the 2026 Wisconsin High School Forensic Association State Speech Festival and earning the prestigious Distinction in Speech Award.

The Distinction in Speech Award recognizes schools performing in the top 6-10% statewide. Out of 281 participating schools, only 14 schools received this honor in 2026. Iowa-Grant’s Forensics program is coached by Amanda Linscheid and Michele Wetter.

In an incredible accomplishment, the entire Iowa-Grant Forensics team qualified to compete at the State Speech Festival this season. The team’s 38 students combined for 30 state entries, showcasing the depth of talent and dedication throughout the program.

When severe weather forced the cancellation of the in-person State Speech Festival, the Iowa-Grant team didn’t back down. Through thunder, lightning, and unexpected challenges, students regrouped and successfully submitted all 30 virtual entries. Their determination and commitment never wavered, even when circumstances were far from ideal.

The results speak volumes: 15 Gold Medals 27 Silver Medals 3 Bronze Medals

This incredible showing is a powerful testament to the grit, resilience, and talent of these outstanding young people. Even when the storm rolled in, Iowa-Grant Forensics proved they could still shine brightly.

“This recognition reflects so much more than medals and scores,” said coaches Amanda Linscheid and Michele Wetter. “It reflects the dedication, perseverance, teamwork, and heart our students showed throughout the entire season. We are so incredibly proud of all of them!”
