Dear Editor,
Let’s start this off with. That the government is not to be competing with private business.
Look at the land to the north of Walmart that the city bought. Took your tax money and developed it. And sold the lots to there Buddy for half of what land sells for. The city got to put a sewer line down the valley on the South side of 18. All the way almost to Hwy. 151 and installed lift station. Using Parcel numbers. 216-1100, 216-1100.30. To serve Everything to the north of. Hwy. 18.
The city was given federal money to install detention ponds on both sides of the sewer line. It was part of the agreement to the landowner. This is how the City got the right away for new sewer line. This is written on the land deed of land owner just South of Hwy. 18. For Having the new sewer line to go through parcel number 216-1100 and 216-1100.30. The city used federal detention pond sewer line money to buy land north of Walmart. Now the city has no money to pay back.
Repeat, The government city of Dodgeville, Is not supposed to Competing with the private developers or private industry.
Let’s look back to when the agreement deed was made, February 16, 2001. It was agreed this land to be zoned Hwy business BH. Inside of Hwy business, You could build self storage buildings. Now in the year 2024. I had Some of the land sold 216-1100.30. The company backed out of Land sale agreement because the city advised them that they would not allow them to build self storage In this area, even though the zoning was approved for self storage. Let the evidence show, In the minutes of Nov 20, 2025. That the city taken out self storage use from Hwy Business, BH. and put it into commercial M-L Zoning.
This is so the city could, And did sell city owned land that was zoned M-L commercial. To a self storage Company which is located on the corner of Hwy. YZ and Bennett Rd.
Also, Just north of the City Hall, there is a parcel zoned Hwy business BH and, has a group of self storage units on it. After they Taken self storage Zoning. out of, Highway business BH. They added more self storage. Approved by the city. This Is so blatant. I hope the voters understand just how serious this is and Just how our board members are screwing up our city by changing zoning just to fit their usage. The city is Trying to getting out of paying for the detention ponds, Engineering, installing and maintaining. Losing a tax base of over $1,000,000. With no expense of snow removal, Sewer line and water lined to the city.
Changing to zoning to benefit City board members to look better.
This is a Major reason why the city doesn’t grow. I asked that these detention ponds be installed now. Or the city can pull out the Sewer line.
