After the Knights took an early lead the Aces came back and then some, taking a win in Western Section action Saturday 19-4.
The Knights contributed to the success of the Aces with eight errors and 10 walks.
The Knights scored right away in the top of the first inning when Ty Palzkill doubled down the right field line, and Jakob Kastenholz hit a sacrifice fly.
Arena tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a ground out by Zach Cady, and a double by Nate Jennings.
The Knights took the lead in the top of the second inning after Palzkill singled to center field for one run and another scored on a wild pitch.
The Aces tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a double by Nate Jennings, and a single by Jimmy Jennings.
The Aces erupted in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on one hit to take the lead, 9-4. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that scored three runs. The Knights had five errors in the frame.
The Aces scored eight runs on two hits in the bottom of the fifth to take control. Nate Jennings doubled in two runs, Cady drove in one with a sacrifice fly. An error scored another run. Alan Spurley drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored a run, Jon Dreschmeier induced Eli Alt to hit into a fielder’s choice, but a run scored, and Cole White singled in one more.
Alt earned the win for the Aces. He surrendered six hits and four runs (three earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two. Dreschmeier took the loss for the Knights. The reliever went four innings, surrendering 15 runs (four earned) on eight hits, striking out five and walking five. Palzkill started the game for Dodgeville. He surrendered two hits and two runs (one earned) over one inning, striking out none and walking one. Brock Henkel finished with a two run seventh. He gave up one hit, walked four and struck out one.
Nate Jennings closed out the game on the mound for the Aces. He did not give up a hit or a run while striking out four
Grant Roh and Palzkill each collected two hits for the Knights. Palzkill went 2-for-3 with a double and led the team with two runs batted in. Roh was 2×4 with a triple. Sean Reilly and Quentin Keene had a single each to round out the five Knights hits.
The Aces slammed out 11 hits. The Jennings brothers, Nate and Jimmy, combined for five hits and seven rbis. Nate was 3×5 and drove in four with Jimmy 2×4 while knocking in three and both doubled. Cole White was 2×4. Trey Schulte doubled with Drew Riedel, Alan Spurley and Daniel Yanke all getting singles.
