Iowa County Data Recovery Report

April 24, 2026 – Iowa County has executed an agreement with TriMin Systems to accelerate the restoration and verification of land records affected by the 2025 cyber incident. This agreement finalizes the terms under which TriMin will significantly expand its indexing and verification capacity to restore historical land records dating from 1997 through 2016, using established methodologies and enhanced staffing resources to support an expedited timeline.

Although TriMin’s contract specifies a project completion target of August 2026, Iowa County emphasizes that this date reflects current projections and is subject to change. As outlined in the agreement, factors outside both County and vendor control-including data availability, system dependencies, and unforeseen complications-may still affect the overall completion timeline. The public is strongly encouraged not to make legal, financial, or transactional decisions that rely on a fixed completion date.

Registrar Campbell expressed confidence in TriMin’s approach and capacity, stating that the company has demonstrated a strong ability to maintain accuracy while rapidly scaling its review operations. Tri- Min’s process includes daily or weekly data returns, quality assurance checks, and dedicated indexing personnel to support the County’s accelerated recovery efforts.

As part of Iowa County’s effort to expedite the restoration of records, the County acknowledges that this accelerated service level is likely to exceed the funding available through its cyber incident insurance coverage. County Board Chairman John Meyers noted, “Iowa county has insurance coverage and has a healthy reserve fund for such events. The costs of recovery of the file index will not have a negative effect on operation funding nor on taxes.”

The County’s focus remains on restoring all impacted records to a level that ensures usability, searchability, and public access. Throughout the restoration process, the Register of Deeds Office will continue to maintain ongoing communication with the public. Regular updates, including progress reports, expanded service capabilities, and availability of searchable records, will continue to be shared on the County website.
