KADE RULE, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, finished his first season on the University of Chattanooga UTC) wrestling team last Thursday. Rule, a freshman at G 197 pounds, was in Cleveland, Oh., for the NCAA Division I championships and dropped his first two matches. He opened with a 10-3 loss to two time all-American Stephan Little from Little Rock (Ark).Little scored three takedowns and fended off multiple deep shots by Rule en route to the win. A 2-0 defeat to Karson Tompkins from Air Force ended Rule’s season in the consolation preliminaries. “I think he needs to obviously get a little bit bigger. He’s pretty small for the weight class, but he wrestles hard and so you see how good he is,” UTC head coach Kyle Ruschell said of Rule. “We all know what he needs to work on over the summer is in his positions and finishing, but some of that’s just the strength. But it’s a great taste of what this actually looks and feels like when you’ve never been here before. That’s a lot of experience for a true freshman to have moving forward in this career.” The Mocs garnered one team point to tie for 57th place. Rule started 11 of 15 dual meets this season, finishing 18-7 overall that included an unblemished record against Southern Conference foes. UTC went 10-5 in duals this season, including a 7-1 mark in SoCon action.

OLIVIA ARGALL, a former Dodgeville High School athlete, had her season on the UW- Oshkosh women’s basketball team come to an end last week. Argall, a 5-foot 10- inch senior forward, was held scoreless in an loss to Den- 82-61 ison University (Oh) in the DIII semifinals in Salem, Va. In 13 minutes of court time, she grabbed a pair of rebounds while missing three field goal attempts.

MALLORY LINDSEY, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, also played her final game in a Titans’ jersey. Lindsey, a 5-5 senior guard played four minutes against the Big Red where she missed her only field goal attempt and committed a foul in the waning minutes of the contest. UW-O fell behind 22-7 after the first quarter and was held at bay the rest of the game. The Titans made their second consecutive trip to the semifinal round, having fallen 49-47 to Smith College (Mass) last year. UW-O ends the season with the second-highest season win total in school history, 28-4.

ANNA TISCH, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, produced points last weekend for the University of Mary (ND) women’s track team. Tisch, a sophomore sprinter/hurdler, secured six points by finishing third in the 400-meter hurdles at the Marauders Outdoor Opener. She crossed the finish line in 1 minute 4.15 seconds, helping the Marauders claim the top four spots. Tisch was also one of 17 sprinters in the 200m where she finished 11th with a best new sonal time perof 26.63. The Marauders finished runner up to Dickinson State University (ND) in the six-team meet. UMary will compete Saturday in the Yellowjacket Open hosted by MSU Billings.

AIDEN MURPHY, a former Dodgeville High School athlete, appeared twice out of the bullpen for the Viterbo University baseball team week. last Murphy, a 5-8 freshm pitcher, a a total of 3.1 n innings in the second and fourth games against Judson University (III). Both games were losses for the V- Hawks, but Murphy was not tagged with either defeat. He allowed an earned run on two hits, a walk, wild pitch, and hit batter to a total of 12 batters while striking out one. Viterbo (4-15, 3-8) is in Davenport, la., this weekend for twinbills against St. Ambrose University before a road game at UW-Parkside next Tuesday.

AIDEN FISHNICK, a former Barneveld High School athlete, did not allow a run in his lone appearance for the UW- Milwaukee baseball team last week. Fishnick, a 6-2 redshirt junior pitcher, took the mound against Wright State University (Oh), firing 46 pitches in 2.2 innings. He surrendered two hits, a walk, and hit one of the 11 Raiders he faced while striking out one. Fishnick was not the pitcher of record in the 8-3 loss. UW-M (4- 18, 2-4) has the Butler CORNELL Bulldogs coming to Franklin Field this weekend for three games, and the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) next Tuesday.

DAELYNN RHOADES, a former Barneveld High School athlete, made two starts for the Cornell College (la) softball team last week. Rhoades, a 5-4 senior P/INF, picked up her third win of the year with an 8-0 victory over Eureka College (III), then suffered her first defeat with a 7-1 loss to Loras College (la). To defeat the Red Devils, Rhoades allowed two base runners while striking out three. The Duhawks tagged Rhoades for three runs each in the first two stanzas on five hits and four walks. She faced 15 batters during her two innings on the bump. Cornell (9-3, 0-0) plays at Simpson College (la) and the University of Dubuque (la) on Thursday and Saturday, respectively, before hosting Buena Vista University (la) on Sunday.

TARRON BOCKHOP, a former Dodgeville High School athlete, could not be kept off the bases for the UW- Platteville baseball team last week. Bockhop, a 5-8 junior infielder, reached base a total of 12 times in four games last week for the Pioneers, including three victories. He drew nine walks to bring his team-leading total to 10. Bockhop scored seven runs to accompany four runs batted in (RBI). In a 16-11 win over Illinois College, he put the first run on the board with a solo home run in the second inning. UW-P (8-2,0-0) opens the conference season this weekend with a home series against UW-Stout.

LILY PETTIT, a former Iowa-Grant High School athlete, notched another victory for the Lakeland University softball team last weekend. Pettit, a 5-1 sophomore P/INF, was in good form in a dominating 13-1 win over Concordia University Chicago (CUC). She allowed an unearned run on three hits to the Cougars with one strikeout. Pettit threw 58 pitches to a total of 17 batters in four innings to earn her third victory of the season. Lakeland (10-4, 2-0) plays its next three series at home; Ripon College on Wednesday, Aurora University (III) on Saturday, and Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) on Sunday.

LIAM STUMPF, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, played in one game for the Central Michigan University baseball team week. last Stumpf, a 6-0 redshirt senior pitcher, was on mound the in the series finale against the Toledo Rockets. He tossed 23 pitches to six batters in the ninth inning, allowing two earned runs on three hits to tie the game, 5-5. The Chippewas pushed a run across the plate in the bottom of the 11th to win, 6-5. CMU (9-11, 3-6) plays at rival Eastern Michigan University this weekend then at Michigan State University next Tuesday.

ELIJAH KNUTSON, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, played in two games for the Wisconsin Lutheran baseball team last weekend. Knutson, a 5-10 sophomore catcher, went a collective 1-for-6 against Cornell with three walks and a run scored. The walks and run came in a 12-7 loss to the Rams, while a first-inning single was part of a 4-3 loss last Sunday. WLC (4-9, 0-0) hosts Edgewood University on Thursday and Benedictine University (III) on Saturday with road games at Carroll University on Thursday and at St. Norbert University next Tuesday.

JAMESON JOHNSON, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, helped power the Rock Valley College (III) baseball team to victory last week. Johnson, a 6-2 sophomore UTL, had a pair of RBI singles and four walks to go along with a pair of runs scored as the Golden Eagles swept Carl Sandburg College (III), 8-4 and 15-4. He also stole a base in each game against the Chargers. RVC (9-7, 0-0) plays at Milwaukee Area Technical College and Elgin Community College on Thursday and Friday, respectively, before hosting Prairie State College (III) on Sunday. Former area athletes who participated for her respective teams last week, but did not record any statistics, or statistics were not available included Mckenna Reilly (DHS) Edgewood women’s lacrosse, Liz Hoffman (MPHS) UW-P softball, and Sean Reilly (DHS) UW-La Crosse baseball.
