BRYN MEYER, a former Barneveld High School athlete, had a busy day on the track for the Loras College women’s track team last Saturday. Meyer, a freshman sprinter/jumper, competed in four events at the UW-Platteville Invitational. Her best finish came as a member of the 4×100-meter relay, which finished fifth out of 11 teams. Meyer ran the second leg for the “A” squad that eventually finished in 48.65 seconds. She did not advance out of the preliminaries in the 100m, 12.88, 18th; 200m, 26.17, 20th, and long jump, 16 feet 1.25 inches (4.91m), 23rd. Loras will be in Rock Island, Ill., this weekend to compete in the Augustana Meet of Champions.

ALEX ROSS, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, was in action for the UW-Stevens Point men’s golf team last week. Ross, a 5-11 sophomore, played consistent rounds for the Pointers’ Gold team at the Illinois College Blueboy Invitational. POST A final tally of 19-over-par 162 (81-82) on the Rail Golf Course in Springfield, Ill., placed him 53rd overall and third amongst his teammates. He birdied the first hole in the opening round for his only mark below par in the tournament. The Pointers finished with a score of 640 (319-321) to finish 11th in the 14- team field. UW-SP travels to Decatur, Ill., Monday and Tuesday to participate in the Butts Classic, hosted by Millikin University.

DAELYNN RHOADES, a former Barneveld High School athlete, made one start last week for the Cornell College (la) softball team. Rhoades, a 5-4 senior P/INF, was on the bump for the series opener against Grinnell College (la). She faced 17 Pioneers in the first three innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits while striking out a pair. The Rams trailed 3-2 when Rhoades left the game, but rallied to score the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh and secure the 4-3 triumph. Cornell (15-9, 3-3) plays at Illinois College on Saturday before coming home to host Beloit College on Sunday.

LEYTON BOWERS, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, hit safely in all five games for the UW- Whitewater baseball team last week. Bowers, a 6-0 senior INF, hit a combined .579 (11-for-19) as the Warhawks took two from UW-Oshkosh and three from UW-Eau Claire. The finale against the Blugolds was suspended due to darkness and will be played at a later date. For the week, he drove in six runs and scored eight runs himself. Bowers had three multi-hit games for the Warhawks, including three going for extra bases.

DOM MCVAY, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, was a frequent visitor to the bases for the Warhawks as well. McVay, a 5-9 junior OF, reached base nine times, collecting multiple hits in three contests. He batted at a .381 clip (8-for-21) with a run scored and three runs batted in (RBI).

ETHAN WICKMAN, a former River Valley High School athlete, Wickman, a 6-1 junior pitcher, was roughed up in one inning of work against UW-EC. Seven Blugolds faced Wickman and tagged him for three earned runs on three hits and a walk. The Warhawks hung on for the 7-6 victory. UW-W (21-3, 13-0) plays at UW-P this weekend.

MCKENZIE KRUSE, a former River Valley High School athlete, posted two top-five performances for the UW-Eau Claire women’s track team last Saturday. Kruse, a sophomore multi-event athlete, returned home from the UW-P Invitational with thirdand fourth-place finishes. She was third in the 400m hurdles in 1:04.32, helping the Blugolds capture three of the top five spots. Kruse then anchored the “B” 4×400 relay to fourth place in 3:51.99 with a final split of 57.34. UW-EC will be at UW-La Crosse this weekend for the Phil Esten Challenge.

ANNA TISCH, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, placed well in two events for the University of Mary (ND) women’s track team last weekend. Tisch, a sprinter/hurdler, used her home track to her advantage at the Al Bortke Classic. She placed second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.94, just a little more than one second behind teammate Aspen Eslinger. Tisch also ran the second leg of the 4×400 relay, which won the event in 3:58.94. UMary will be in California this weekend, sending athletes to the Cal State LA Twilight Open and Bryan Clay Invitational beginning Thursday.

CALEB KITELINGER, a former Dodgeville High School athlete, was an event champion for the UW-P men’s track team last weekend. Kitelinger, a freshman sprinter, was part of the Pioneers’ winning 4×100 relay at their own invitational. They topped a field of nine teams in 41.43, with Kitelinger handing the third leg. He also secured a pair of top-15 finishes in the two shortest races, 100m, 13th, 11.18, and 200m, 14th in 22.36. UW-P competes at Augustana this weekend.

LEXIE WEIER, a former Mount Horeb athlete from Mineral Point, finished in the top 10 for the UW-W women’s track team last weekend. Weier, a senior horizontal jump specialist, placed eighth in a field of 35 athletes in the triple jump at the UW-P Invitational. She jumped 36-9 (11.20m) on her first attempt of the competition, and was in fourth place after the first round. UW-W competes at the Phil Esten Challenge this weekend.

AIDEN MURPHY, a former Dodgeville High School athlete, had one appearance for the Viterbo University baseball team last weekend. Murphy, a 5-8 freshman pitcher, was called upon to throw the final 1.2 innings of a 6-1 loss to Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind). He tossed 22 pitches to seven batters, allowing an earned run on one hit and a hit batter, and was not tagged with the loss. Viterbo (7-26, 6-17) hosts Olivet Nazarene University (III) this weekend and Maranatha Baptist next Tuesday for two games.

ELI LINDSEY, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, helped the Viterbo University men’s golf team to a top finish last week. Lindsey, a freshman, shot an 83 (41- 42) over Meadowbrook Country Club in Racine at the Firebird Spring Invite. He was the team’s No. 4 golfer on the day as the V-Hawks tied for third in the 18-team event after firing a total of 312 (153-159). Viterbo travels to Decorah, la., for the two-day Luther Spring Classic at the Oneota Golf & Country Club.

ELIJAH KNUTSON, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, played a role in a recent victory for the Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC) baseball team. Knutson, a 5-10 sophomore catcher, picked up his second RBI of the season during a 12-3 rout of Maranatha Baptist. In the sixth inning against the Sabercats, he reached on an error by the third baseman, plating the 10th run for the Warriors. WLC (8-19, 2-10) has road games at Carroll University on Thursday and Dominican University (III) on Saturday.

ELLE PECHAN, a former Barneveld High School athlete, kicked off her Spring season for the Loras women’s golf team by playing in two events last week. Pechan, a junior, helped the Duhawks at their own Spring Invite and the Clarke Invite as well. She placed 11th at the Clarke Invite after firing a 90 (47-43) and was the No. 2 Duhawk. Pechan finished one spot higher at the Loras Spring Invite after carding a 185 (99-86) at The Meadows. The Duhawks were runners-up with a final score of 738 (381-357). Loras is off this weekend before competing in Waverly, la., April 25-26 against Wartburg College.

LILY PETTIT, a former lowa-Grant High School athlete, picked up another win for the Lakeland University softball team last week. Pettit, a 5-1 sophomore P/INF, threw a complete game shutout to earn her fifth victory of the season. She faced 26 WLC batters and limited them to just five hits and a walk while fanning a pair of Warriors en route to the 1-0 win. Pettit started the week with a strong showing against UW-Oshkosh where she threw 4.2 innings and faced 17 batters. She gave up one earned run on three hits before the game was called due to darkness tied, 3-3. Lakeland (13-10-1, 5-3) hosts Dominican University (III) and Alverno College on Thursday and Saturday, respectively, before playing at St. Norbert College on Sunday.

LIAM STUMPF, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, was on the mound twice last week for the Central Michigan University (CMU) baseball team. Stumpf, a 6-0 redshirt senior pitcher, had a relief outing against the University of Michigan and earned the starting nod against UW-Milwaukee. He pitched a total of 3.2 innings, allowing six earned runs on four hits, four walks, and a hit batter while striking out three. The bulk of Stumpf’s work came against UW-M, and he did not get the loss in either game. CMU (13-20, 7-11) hosts Youngstown State on Wednesday before the Bobcats from Ohio University come to Mount Pleasant for a weekend series.

MASON AIDE, a former lowa-Grant High School athlete, placed in the top one-third for the UW-Stout men’s track team last week. Aide, a junior distance specialist, was part of the large contingent of runners in the 5000m last Friday at the UW-P Invitational. He finished 111th overall, and second among Blue Devils, in a field of over 345 athletes with a time 14:57.74. UW-S returns to action this weekend at UW-L.

ISAAC HILL, a former lowa-Grant High School athlete, was in action last week for the Edgewood University men’s golf team. Hill, a 6-2 graduate student, finished 51st at the Morningstar Masters hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College, after shooting a 163 (86-77). He was the Eagles’ No. 4 golfer at the two-day event in Waukesha. The Eagles ended up in 10th place with a final tally of 619 (311-308), a new season-best 36-hole score. Edgewood plays at the Forester Spring Invite, hosted by Lake Forest College (III), this weekend.

ZACH BAUMBERGER, a former River Valley High School athlete, raced in two events for the University of Dubuque (la) men’s track team last Saturday. Baumberger, a junior sprinter, was on the track at the UW-P Invitational. He finished 44th in the 100m with a time of 11.83 and his time of 23.54 in the 200m placed him 45th overall. UD will send its team to Rock Island this weekend.

ANNIE ROBINSON, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, Robinson, a freshman distance runner, was one of five Jackrabbits competing in the 5000m at the UW-P Invitational last Friday. She finished fourth for the Jackrabbits and 53rd overall in the field of 200 runners after crossing the finish line in 17:41.63. SDSU has the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., as its next meet.

AIDEN FISHNICK, a former Barneveld High School athlete, got a starting nod for the UW-M baseball team last week. Fishnick, a 6-2 redshirt junior pitcher, tossed 28 pitches to nine batters in the first two innings against CMU. He allowed two runs, one earned, on a hit, walk, and hit batter. The Panthers won the game, 9-6, but Fishnick was not the pitcher of record. UW-M (9-24, 5-7) has Northern Kentucky University coming to Franklin Field this weekend and the University of St. Thomas (Minn) next Tuesday.

HANNAH HEGLUND, a former River Valley High School athlete, was on the course for the Edgewood women’s golf team last weekend. Heglund, a 5-4 sophomore, finished 27th at the Loras Spring Invite with a two-day tally of 236 (119-117). The Eagles finished third out of five teams with a score of 826 (422-404). Edgewood travels to Janesville this weekend to participate in the UW-W Spring Invite.

Former area athletes who participated for her respective teams last week, but did not record any statistics, or statistics were not available included McKenna Reilly (DHS) Edgewood women’s lacrosse, Jameson Johnson (PHS) Rock Valley College (III) baseball, and Sean Reilly (DHS) UW-L baseball.
