BRYN MEYER, a former Barneveld High School athlete, was busy for the Loras College women’s track team last Saturday in Naperville, III.

Meyer, a freshman sprinter/jumper, competed in four events for the Duhawks at the North Central College First Chance Invitational. She recorded three top-five finishes while placing sixth in another event. Meyer’s highest finish on the day – second – came in the 4×100-meter relay where the Duhawks finished in 49.83 seconds, with Meyer running the second leg. She raced to fourth place in the 200m with a time of 26.49 and fifth in the 100m in 13.02. Meyer rounded out the day with a leap of 16 feet 4.25 inches (5.01m) in the long jump to garner sixth place. Loras hosts its Mid-Week Meet this week.

AIDEN MURPHY, a former Dodgeville High School athlete, picked up his second decision of the season for the Viterbo University baseball team last Saturday.

Murphy, a 5-8 freshman pitcher, came out of the bullpen and took the loss for the V-Hawks in a 9-5 contest against St. Ambrose University (Ia). Entering the game in the seventh inning with a 5-2 lead, Murphy was tagged for six earned runs on seven hits before being relieved. He threw 31 pitches, 21 strikes, to 10 Bees batters, and has an 0-2 record this season. Viterbo (4-21, 3-12) welcomes Saint Xavier University (ill) to town this weekend before playing Dakota Wesleyan University (SD) next Tuesday in Minneapolis.

ANNA TISCH, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, helped the University of Mary (ND) women’s track team to a win last Saturday.

Tisch, a sophomore multi-event athlete, contributed 16 points to the team total as the Marauders won the Yellowstone Open in Billings, MT. She ran the third leg of the 4×400 relay which placed first with a time of 3:57.91. Tisch also finished third in the 400m hurdles after crossing the finish line in 1:04.17. The Marauders dominated the seven-team meet, winning eight events en route to 221 points. UMary hosts the Al Borke Open on Friday and Saturday at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.

DOM MCVAY, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, helped the UW- Whitewater baseball team open conference play last weekend with four wins.

McVay, a 5-9 junior OF, provided four timely hits as the Warhawks disposed of UW-Stevens Point. During the 10-8 win in the second game, he went 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and two runs batted in (RBI). McVay had a run-scoring triple in the second inning with a 2-run home run coming in the third. He also singled and stole second base in the fifth. McVay provided a two-run double in the opening stanza of the final game as well, and came around to score, too.

LEYTON BOWERS, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, also had a multi-hit game for the Warhawks against the Pointers.

Bowers, a 6-0 senior INF, went 3-for- 3 at the plate in the series finale, a resounding 17-3 triumph for UW-W. He was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle as he drove in two runs and scored twice himself. Bowers was on base four times; a double in the first, a single in the second, a walk in the fifth before slapping a triple in the sixth.

ETHAN WICKMAN, a former River Valley High School athlete, turned in a stellar performance on the mound for the Warhawks.

Wickman, a 6-1 junior pitcher, stymied the Pointer offense for 4.1 innings to pick up the win in the 10-8 game. He allowed no runs while giving up four hits and striking out the same. Wickman fired 54 pitches to 16 batters while on the bump. UW-W (12-3, 4-0) plays doubleheaders at UW-La Crosse on Friday and Saturday.

LIAM STUMPF, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, produced a scoreless outing for the Central Michigan University (CMU) baseball team. Stumpf, a 6-0 redshirt senior pitcher, was the first hurler called from the bullpen in a 15-inning contest against Eastern Michigan University (EMU) that saw the Chippewas fall 9-8.

None of the 13 batters he faced crossed home plate in 2.1 innings of work. Stumpf scattered three hits to accompany two walks, a hit batter, while striking out one Eagle. CMU (9-15, 3-9) hosts Western Michigan University for three games beginning Thursday before a road game at the University of Michigan next Tuesday.

AIDEN FISHNICK, a former Barneveld High School athlete, made one relief appearance for the UW-Milwaukee baseball team last weekend.

Fishnick, a 6-2 redshirt junior pitcher, tossed the final 2.1 innings in a 6-2 loss to the Butler Bulldogs. He allowed four earned runs on three hits, two walks, a wild pitch, and a hit batter. Fishnick threw 45 pitches to 13 batters with one strikeout. UW-M (5-20, 2-4) has Youngstown State (Oh) and the University of lowa coming to Franklin Field beginning Thursday.

ELI LINDSEY, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, was a top performer for the Viterbo men’s golf team last weekend.

Lindsey, a freshman, was the No. 2 golfer for the V-Hawks at the Wartburg Spring Invite. He carded rounds of 79 and 77 over the Prairie Links Golf Course to finish tied for 41st with his 156 total. Lindsey’s first round was highlighted by a pair of birdies, which led the team. The V-Hawks finished the two-day event with a 623 (324-299) and finished tied for ninth. Viterbo will be in Kenosha on Thursday for the Firebird Spring Invite, hosted by Carthage College.

LEXIE WEIER, a former Mount Horeb athlete from Mineral Point, was victorious for the UW-W women’s track team in its first outdoor meet of the season.

Weier, a junior horizontal jump specialist, placed first in the triple jump at the UW-Platteville Triangular against the Pioneers and the University of Dubuque. Her winning effort of 35-4 (10.77m) came on her fifth attempt, and was already leading the competition at that point. UW-W hosts the Rex Foster Twilight on Friday.

LILY PETTIT, a former lowa-Grant High School athlete, made two starts last week for the Lakeland University softball team.

Pettit, a 5-1 sophomore P/INF, took the loss in both contests, 13-0 to Ripon College and 5-3 to Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW), and now sits with a 3-3 record this year. She pitched a cumulative 6.2 innings, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on 14 hits and a walk. Pettit faced 14 Red Hawks and 19 Falcons. Lakeland (10-8, 2-2) hosts Dominican University (lil) on Saturday afternoon.

DAELYNN RHOADES, a former Barneveld High School athlete, led the Cornell College (la) softball team to a win last Sunday.

Rhoades, a 5-4 senior P/INF, tossed a five-inning complete game to defeat Buena Vista University (la), 8-0. She allowed four Beavers to reach base; two with singles and the other two via walks. Rhoades fanned three batters as she raised her record to 4-1. Cornell (12-6, 0-0) opens conference play Saturday at Lake Forest College (III).

CALEB KITELINGER, a former Dodgeville High School athlete, kicked off his outdoor season for the UW-Platteville men’s track team last week.

Kitelinger, a freshman sprinter, was in the field of the 100m at the UW-P Triangular. He finished seventh with a time of 11.23 seconds. UW-P returns to action on Wednesday at the Loras Mid-Week Meet.

ZACH BAUMBERBER, a former River Valley High School athlete, was among the UD men’s track team athletes at the UW-P Triangular last week.

Baumberger, a junior sprinter, was one of 12 athletes in the 400m. He placed eighth overall, and third among Spartans, after crossing the finish line in 53.69. UD competes at the Loras meet this week as well.

ELIJAH KNUTSON, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, helped the Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC) baseball team to a win Monday afternoon.

Knutson, a 5-10 sophomore catcher, knocked a pair of singles in a 7-6 win over St. Norbert College. One hit resulted in Knutson coming around to score while the other pushed a run across the plate. WLC (6-13, 2-4) travels to Montgomery, Ill., on Saturday to play Aurora University.

Former area athletes who participated for her respective teams last week, but did not record any statistics, or statistics were not available included McKenna Reilly (DHS) Edgewood women’s lacrosse, Jameson Johnson (PHS) Rock Valley College baseball, and Sean Reilly (DHS) UW-L base-
