
BRYN MEYER, a former Barneveld High School athlete, put together another strong performance for the Loras College (Ia) women’s track team. Meyer, a freshman sprinter/jumper, placed third or better in four events at the Duhawks Easter Mid- Week Meet. She won the long jump and was part of the winning quartet in the 4×100-meter relay. Meyer’s leap of 17 feet 2.75 inches (5.25m) won the event by 2″ and is a new season best effort. Her winning leap came on her third attempt, and all four legal jumps surpassed 16-10.5. She ran the second leg of the relay that would eventually finish in 48.93 seconds. Meyer also took third in the 100- meter and 200m dashes with season best time of 12.82 and 26.39, respectively. Loras travels to UW-Platteville this weekend.

LIAM STUMPF, a former Mineral Point School athlete, was involved in a pair of one run games for the Central Michigan University (CMU) baseball team last weekend. Stumpf, a 6- foot redshirt senior pitcher, was on the bump for a 9-8 win and a 9-8 loss to the visiting Broncos from Western Michigan University (WMU). In the victory, he faced 13 batters, allowing two hits, three walks, and two balks while striking out one and was not the pitcher of record. The Chippewas scored once in the bottom of the ninth to secure the home win. A day later in the loss was a different story entirely as Stumpf was tagged with the loss, his first of the season. He threw 22 pitches to six batters in a full inning of work, allowing three earned runs on two hits, a wild pitch, and a hit batter. CMU (11-16, 5-10) plays at Bowling Green University (Oh) this weekend before hosting UW-Milwaukee next Monday.

ELI LINDSEY, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, helped the Viterbo University men’s golf team to sixth place last week. Lindsey, a freshman, carded a 5- over-par 77 (39-38) on the Irv Warren Golf Course as he was one of four V-Hawks to score in the 70s at the Redtail Spring Shootout, hosted by Hawkeye Community College (la). Lindsey’s scorecard included birdies on the 14th and 16th holes and was the only Viterbo player to do so on those holes. The V-Hawks finished with a 302 (150-152) among the 13-team field and were just eight strokes from top spot. Viterbo participates in the Firebird Spring Invite hosted by Carthage College on Thursday.
AIDEN FISHNICK, a former Barneveld High School athlete, had a strong showing for the UW-M baseball team last Saturday. Fishnick, a 6-2 redshirt junior pitcher, pitched the final two innings of a 5-1 win over Youngstown State (Oh) to close the series. Seven hitters from the Penguins stepped to the plate and all seven returned to the bench after recording outs. Fishnick threw 25 pitches to get one strikeout along with inducing four groundouts and two flyouts. UW-M (6-23, 3-6) will be in Michigan this weekend for a series against Oakland University beginning Friday, then play CMU on Monday.
DAELYNN RHOADES, a former Barneveld High School athlete, had a rough outing for the Cornell College (la) softball team last Saturday. Rhoades, a 5-4 senior P/INF, picked up her second loss of the season following a 9-4 defeat to the Foresters from Lake Forest College (III). She started for the Rams and was relieved after 5.2 innings of work. Rhoades allowed nine earned runs on 15 hits and four walks while recording 17 outs, including one strikeout as her record moved to 4-2. Cornell (12-8, 0-2) hosts Grinnell College (la) on Wednesday before hitting the road to play at Lawrence University and Ripon College on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

ELIJAH KNUTSON, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, was part of a win for the Wisconsin Lutheran baseball team last week. Knutson, a 5- 10 sophomore catcher, was the team’s designated hitter in a 7-6 over St. Norbert College. He batted 2- for-4 with a run batted in (RBI) against the Green Knights. Knutson singled in the fourth and sixth innings, with the first hit forcing across the sixth run for the Warriors. WLC (6-15, 2-6) plays at Illinois Institute of Technology, Maranatha Baptist, and Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) this week with a home doubleheader against Rockford University (III) on Saturday.
MCKENZIE KRUSE, a former River Valley High School athlete, had a good start to her outdoor season for the UW- Eau Claire women’s track team. Kruse, a sophomore sprinter/hurdler recorded a pair of second place finishes at the Ashton May Invitational on the campus of UW-La Crosse last Friday. Her first runner up performance came in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.05. Kruse was the top Division III performer in the race, barely a second behind Tori from UW-Milwaukee, Spagnola Tom. Kruse finished her day by leading off the 4x400m relay team that would finish with a time of 3:57.64, just under two seconds behind UW-L. UW-EC travels to UW-P this weekend.
JAMESON JOHNSON, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, was in action last week for the Rock Valley College (Ill) baseball team. Johnson, a 6-2 sophomore UTL, and the Golden Eagles were in Madison for two games against Madison College. Only the first game was played and Johnson went 2-for-4 with a run scored in an 11-1 loss to the Wolfpack. RVC (13-8) hosts Bryant & Stratton College on Wednesday before playing on the road at McHenry County College (III), Harper College (III), and South Suburban College (III) on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively.
LEYTON BOWERS, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, reached base in all four games for the UW- Whitewater baseball team last week. Bowers, a 6-0 senior INF, collected three hits, five walks, and was hit by a pitch in four games against UW-L. He scored three times and drove in three as well. All three RBIs came in the first game last Monday when Bowers homered in the top of the 11th inning to plate the game-winning runs as the Warhawks prevailed 4-0. He also had a two-hit game in the series opener, a 5-1 victory for the Warhawks.
DOM MCVAY, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, was a consistent offensive threat once again for the Warhawks. McVay, a 5-9 junior OF, had three 1- for-4 games, all singles, against the Eagles. His single in the sixth inning of the first game drove in a pair of runs. McVay also drew a pair of walks and came around to score following one of them.
ETHAN WICKMAN, a former River Valley High School athlete, played a key role in the latest win for the Warhawks – their 15th in a row. Wickman, a 6-1 sophomore pitcher, started the series finale against the Eagles and threw six strong innings to earn the win in the 2-1 contest. He faced 24 batters, allowing five hits and a walk to accompany his one strikeout. Wickman improved to 2-0 on the season. UW-W (16-3, 8-0) will be at UW-Oshkosh on Wednesday for two games and then travel to UW-EC this weekend.
CALEB KITELINGER, a former Dodgeville High School athlete, established a new personal best for the UW- P men’s track team last week. Kitelinger, a freshman sprinter, was among the Pioneers competing in Dubuque at the Loras Mid-Week. He was one of six Pioneers in both the 200m and 100m. Kitelinger was eighth overall in the 200m with a clocking of 22.65, a new personal best, and placed 14th in the 100m in 11.51. UW-P returns home to host its own invitational on Friday and Saturday.
ZACH BAUMBERGER, a former River Valley High School athlete, was on the oval for the University of Dubuque men’s track team last week. Baumberger, a junior sprinter, was a member of the Spartans’ 4×400 relay at the Loras Mid-Week Meet. They won the event with a time of 3:37.01 with Baumberger handing the second lap, which he did in 54.47. UD will also cross the Mississippi River this weekend to compete at UW- P.
MCKENNA REILLY, a former Dodgeville High School athlete, played in two matches for the Edgewood University women’s lacrosse team last week. Reilly, a 5-8 sophomore defender, was credited with two ground balls during a 17-8 win over Marian University, then had a foul and caused a turnover in a 12-5 loss to the Spartans from Aurora University (Ill). Edgewood (4-8, 3-1) hosts Lake Forest on Wednesday with MSOE coming to Redden Park on Saturday.
MASON AIDE, a former Iowa-Grant High School athlete, had his first outdoor meet of the season for the UW- Stout men’s track team last week. Aide, a junior distance runner, was one of 16 Blue Devils in the 1500m at the Ashton May Invite. He finished fourth among his teammates and 14th in a field of 49 runners with a time of 4:06.38. UW-S competes at UW-P this weekend.
AIDEN MURPHY, a former Dodgeville High School athlete, made one appearance last week for the Viterbo baseball team. Murphy, a 5-8 freshman pitcher, faced 13 batters in 2.0 innings in a 10- 2 loss to Saint Xavier University (III). He allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits and a walk. Murphy threw 43 pitches on the day, with 24 of them being strikes. Viterbo (5-24, 4-15) is in Whiting, Ind., this weekend for a series against the Crimson Wave from Calumet College of St. Joseph.
