The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal farm accident that occurred on April 26 at approximately 6:28 p.m. at a residence located on County Road M in the Town of Dodgeville.
Deputies, along with Dodgeville EMS and Dodgeville Fire Department, and UW MedFlight responded to a 911 call reporting a male subject pinned under a tractor. Upon arrival, first responders located a 70-year-old male, identified as Arthur Karl “Karl” Pustina, trapped beneath the equipment.
Despite extensive life-saving measures efforts by emergency personnel, Pustina was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Pustina was pulling a disabled tractor with another tractor when the tractor he was operating overturned, pinning him underneath.
“I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and all those affected by this tragic accident. Mr. Pustina, who was known as Karl, was a well-known and valued member of the community and will be missed,” said Sheriff Michael Peterson.
The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office. No additional details are being released at this time.
