Barneveld’s softball team did not allow visiting Highland a run thanks to the three hit pitching from Hannah Esch.
Esch issued nine strikeouts over the five innings she worked. She did not walk a batter.
Esch was also a force at the plate. She went 4×4 with a two run home run and three run scoring singles.
Isabel Pohlman went 2×2 with a double. Addison Carden was 3×3 with a trio of rbis, Mya Norton and Addison Walker both were 2×3. Getting one hit each for the Golden Eagles were Eliza Gordon and Aleea Norton.
Sumaryn Halverson went the distance as the Highland pitcher. The three Highland hits came from Hillary Hying, Brinleigh Bollant and Ava Michek.
The two teams met again in the twinbill this time with the Eagles winning 18-1.
Lauren Reese pitched the win for the Eagles. She spaced five hits while walking two and striking out four.
Sumaryn Halverson, Faith Hoffman, Ava Michek, Hailee Kohout and Cora Healy-Dougherty had the five Cardinals hits.
Marissa Biba did the pitching chores for Highland.
Barneveld had a dozen hits led by a 3×3 day by Gordon. She drove in two runs.
Esch was 2×3 with three rbis.
Reagan Knight, Walker, Carden, Pohlman, McKenna Hopfensberger, Reese and Mya Norton all had a hit for the Eagles.
