Eagles overwhelm Weston

Hunter Larson collected three hits in four at bats to help the Barneveld Golden Eagles take down Weston 11-1 on Monday.

Larson tripled in the fourth inning, doubled in the sixth inning, and singled in the third inning of the nonconference game.

The Eagles opened the scoring in the bottom of the third thanks to two singles. They put numbers on the board when Karsen Leuzinger singled to score two runs.

The Golden Eagles scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Larson doubled, scoring one run, Leuzinger doubled, scoring one run, Ty Thousand singled, scoring two runs, and Kadyn Schlimgen hit into a fielder’s choice as a run scored.

Larson earned the win for the Eagles. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out eight and walking none.

Mason Durst threw two innings of scoreless ball for the Eagles in relief. The pitcher surrendered zero hits, striking out six and walking one.

Barneveld collected 12 hits in the game. Leuzinger went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Durst and Cooper Shipman each collected multiple hits for the Eagles. Shipman stole two bases. Next up for the Eagles is a game at Argyle/Black Hawk Warbirds on Thursday.
