Barneveld’s volleyball team went 2-1 over the weekend, gaining wins over Jefferson and Lake Mills.

The only team to get past the Golden Eagles was Mount Horeb with a 2-1 win.

Barneveld’s success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up to beat the L-Cats. Jayda Oimoen led the charge by getting nine kills, six digs, and three aces. Avery Schulting also stood out, with 13 assists, three digs, and three aces.

Several L-Cats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooke Palmer, who had five kills, five aces, and a solo block. Another player making a difference was Lyndsey Bender, who had six kills and six digs.

Barneveld won the last time they faced Jefferson and things went their way on Saturday too. Barneveld came out on top in a nail-biter against them picking up the win, 2- 1.

Jayda Oimoen again led the Eagles with 11 digs, seven kills, two solo blocks, and two aces. Another player making a difference was Rowan Valcheff, who had six kills, five digs, four aces, and a solo block.

Barneveld’s victory bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Jefferson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-8.
