Eagles get winning run across on an error in the late innings to trip the Braves

Barneveld and Belmont are two of the top Division 4 teams in the state so it was no wonder the final score was 4-3.

Barneveld survived the match-up Friday, scoring the winning run in the top of the sixth. The game was tied at three in the top of the sixth when an error scored the winning run.

Belmont scored first the bottom of the first inning after Chase Riechers grounded out, and Thomas Freeman grounded into a fielder’s choice, each driving in a run.

The Golden Eagles tied the game in the top of the third thanks to a single by Karsen Leuzinger, and a line out by Ty Thousand.

An error gave Belmont the lead, 3- 2, in the bottom of the third.

Hunter Larson singled down the right field line, which helped Barneveld tie the game at three in the top of the fourth.

Larson earned the win for Barneveld. The righty gave up six hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Riechers took the loss for Belmont. The hurler went three and one-third innings, surrendering one run (zero earned) on no hits, striking out five and walking three.

Boone Havens started on the mund for Belmont. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and three runs (one earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking four.

Mason Durst relieved Larson and collected the save.

Larson went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Kadyn Schlimgen and Cooper Shipman rounded out the Eagles offense with a hit each

Seven walks and three errors by the Braves also helped the Eagles earn the win.
