Under Reports, Interim Clerk/Treasurer Emily Wolfe reported that absentee ballots for the August Partisan Primary Election would soon be received and that the deadline to mail those forms out from the Clerk’s office would be June 25th. She noted that because so many candidates are on the ballot for various contests, the express vote ticket used for early voting would now be 17″ in length instead of the standard 14″ in length.
In his Mayor report, Barry Hottmann asked Alderman Roxanne Reynolds-Lair to speak to the PBS Wisconsin visit to Dodgeville, and she noted that 23 total residents in two separate sessions participated in interviews commemorating America’s 250 Anniversary on how the United States came together.
In New Business, regarding city Well #8 which is underperforming, and based on two recommendations from the Public Works Committee, Approved was an airlift proposal relating to the Well #8 rehabilitation project in the amount of $26,710 and an amount not to exceed $27,540 for Municipal Well and Pump #8.
On a 6-1 roll call vote, the Council Approved a recommendation from the Public Works Committee to approve a contract with Vierbicher for engineering consulting services relating to the TID #3 Truck Stop Development which would extend the frontage road currently under design for the Pizza Ranch development. The current total agreement amount is for $103,650. Alderman Mike Olson voted no.
Also, from a recommendation from the Public Works Committee, Approved was a contract with Vierbicher relating to the design and engineering for Bea Ann Drive storm water repairs. The total estimated cost for the project is $14,800.
The Council Approved Resolution 2026-08 for a new stop sign at the intersection of East Grace Street and East Madison Street. And from a recommendation from the Public Works Committee Approved an amendment to Section 7.07(c) Parking Prohibited at All Times and Section 7.07(p) Handicap Parking Spaces on portions of South Douglas Street and East Main Street and Designating a Handicapped Parking Space on West Merrimac Street.
Approved was a quote from Collins and Hying relating to sewer lateral installment and interior sewer piping for 322 West Washington Street in the amount of $14,800. Resolution 2026-07; Compliance Maintenance Annual Report was Approved.
Because of a recent police officer resignation, the Council Approved Police Chief Brandon Wilhelm posting for a Certified Officer to fill the vacant officer position for the Dodgeville Police Department.
The Council Approved the following liquor license renewals for 2026- 2027: Class “A” Retailers Fermented Malt Beverage & “Class A” Intoxicating Liquor License Renewal: Laxami Narayan Fuel Inc dba Dodgeville Market Place – Ghanshyambhai N Patel, Agent. And the Approval of Cigarette, Tobacco, and Electronic Vaping Device Retail License Renewal for 2026-2027: Laxami Narayan Fuel Inc dba Dodgeville Market Place.
Based on two recommendations from Mayor Hottmann, the Council Approved to appoint Public Works Director Dylan Wadzinski as Health Officer for the City of Dodgeville and as Interim American with Disabilities (ADA) Coordinator for the City of Dodgeville.
In Public Comment, City Resident Wendy Nipple asked Mayor Hottmann to read a letter of her concerns, some of which were she feels her responses to open record requests she has submitted have not been received in a timely fashion. She asked if the barbed wire fence around City Hall could be removed and recycled and reinvested into repairs for the City Hall parking lot. She expressed concern that appointing Dylan Wadzinski as both the Health Officer and ADA coordinator was illegal and Mayor Hottmann replied that his appointments were recommended by City Attorney Eric Hagen. Finally, Nipple spoke in the letter that Mayor Hottmann read that a separate email had been sent to all alderman on Monday, June 15, regarding her concerns with physical hazards across the city.
To begin the meeting the Consent Agenda was Approved which included a Special Event license for Touch a Truck Event hosted by the Youth Emergency Services (YES) on August 8, 2026. The public event will showcase public safety vehicles and community resources aimed at families of Iowa County with kids’ activities, food trucks, and emergency response vehicles. Also Approved were the Minutes from the June 2, 2026, meeting, as were the Claims as follows:
