Dear Friends and Neighbors

Dear Friends and Neighbors .:

With the promise of spring in the air, I know the last thing you want to think about is another election. However, on April 7th, there is an election for Dodgeville Alderman District 4. My name is Philip Ley and I am running for the Alderman Position.

A little about my family: my wife, Dymphna and I are longtime Dodgeville residents. Dymphna works locally, at Lands’ End and I work in the Facilities Department for Elderspan, a senior living management company, with facilities in Dodgeville.

The city has critical, tough decisions to make. From our housing shortage and unaffordability, to keeping up with street repair in an era of higher inflation and borrowing costs. I am a leader that will bring solutions, in a collaborative way. My broad range of experience in electrical code development, facilities management, community solar projects, and land development provides a depth of experience to guide me.

My priorities include:

* Affordable housing through smart land development and partnering with state and federal agencies.

* Streamline and reduce the burden from the building permit and zoning process.

* Development a city infrastructure master plan that provides certainty to street repair, construction timelines, and zoning districts.

* Work closely with the fire department/ambulance to continue their excellent level of service.

* Create a sustainable budget, that doesn’t rely on borrowing to create growth.

I have always believed that good government focuses on its core responsibilities and is responsive to the residents. As I consider the issues and cast votes, I will always have the best interests of the city and our residents on my mind. I refuse to play politics; rather focus on what matters to ensure the City of Dodgeville continues to be a great place to live, raise a family, and retire.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve the city. If you would like to contact me, feel free to call or tex anytime 608.574.0299.
