If we missed your birthday, that is not what we want. Mom, Cheryl, is usually really good at knowing the Birthdays and Anniversaries in the area. But if you want to give a happy birthday shout out, please contact us at the information above.
Happy Birthday to Cameron D., Mariah S., Tim H., Levi P., Peggysue J., Carrie L., and Arlena from Anitas Cafe. Have a great day!
Arena VFW has started a pretty big project. They’re documenting all of Arena’s veterans. They started with Duane Olson, killed in Vietnam. Duane’s family saved a lot of the letters he sent home, some written on toilet paper. They’re going to contact those that are still alive. We asked what happens if they’ve passed. They are lining up a questionnaire that will be sent to families for their stories. If you have any questions, call Kenny Amble.
Congratulations to Brenda and Craig Beighly on their 45th anniversary!
Have you heard of Sleep In Heavenly Peace? It’s an organization that believes all children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. Especially when their families break up and they’ve had to sleep on the floor. A group started with the build of one bed for a single family. The wood left over from the first bed, the idea was created-help out with a single bed for each child that doesn’t have a warm bed to sleep in. The single beds are built, a mattress provided along with sheets, quilt and pillow. All provided for each child in the family. Iowa County has a group that has been working a little over a year. Check into it and see how you or when of the organizations that you participate in can help.
Sunday-a big day! It is the day that we celebrate that special woman in our lives. This could be your Mom, your Grandma, your Auntie, or your wife who’s given you the most beautiful kids. We hope your day was wonderful with the flowers, or the chocolates, or the message. But most of the moms that we have talked to, they are just looking to spend time with their children (especially if they are older,,,) My kids know, since I never tell them what I want, we moms are always looking to spend time with our kids. Mothers with younger children want that time too but maybe some alone or nap time! Hope all the mothers had a wonderful day!
Sympathies to the Boyd Spurley family on his passing. Boyd was a member of the Arena VFW and had been the Scoutmaster in Arena for many years.
