4th of July on the road

Dear Editor,

I cannot not say anything. It’s Saturday morning and I’m driving into Dodgeville. On a twolane road with a posted speed limit of 55 mph.

There are 2 vehicles in front of me. The first is going moderately slow. The person following decides to pass. The 2nd car crosses the double yellow line, goes around a curve, overtaking the slower moving (not farm) vehicle.

IF a vehicle(s) was/were going in the opposite direction, I may not be here to write about this situation (even if following at what I consider to be a safe distance).

The upcoming weekend will host countless celebrations. An enormous number of vehicles of all descriptions, driven by people of all ages (with a wide variety of experience behind the wheel) will be traveling.

PLEASE follow “the rules of the road” so you and the people important to you as well as the rest of us will live to see another 4th of July. Eileen Z. Fitzsimons Town of Dodgeville, WI
