Along The Ad Routes

by Mike Reilly

I think I am going to keep harping about people not using their directionals! The other day I was delivering Chronicles to Kwik Trip North and was going to turn left into the lot (heading north). Two vehicles were heading south so I waited for them to pass me by. But the first one turned right into Kwik Trip, the second one did too. I will say the second vehicle did have the directional turned on, but it was after it began making the turn and was almost inside the lot!

I had ball games starting at noon on Saturday so had to be at Centennial Park around 10:30 to begin getting things ready at the concession stand. So our Saturday morning breakfast kept us fairly close to home. It was just Bob, Tom and me who headed to Hollandale and Stroz’s Inn, a place we frequent several times a year. The rest of the crew were all out of the area except Dewey who was giving tours at Taliesin. We had Amber Seffrood was our waitress. We made her job easier when we all ordered veggie omelettes with ham. Tom and I both added hash browns. Tom couldn’t quite finish his last few bites (the omelettes were huge) and Bob got a doggy bag. Me, of course, ate the whole thing!

I had great help in the stand from Lisa Bockhop, Jessica (and Riggins) Rickard with Rick Graber even doing some cooking! I mainly just sat around!

Today (Thursday, July 11) is National Cheer Up the Lonely Day. That’s a day to stop and think about, because it may be you some day that’s lonely! Each year on July 11, people across the United States make a special effort to give someone a lift on National Cheer up the Lonely Day. If you know someone who is lonely or going through a difficult time, be a bright spot in their life with a little extra thoughtfulness today. How do you do this? You may write a note or card, send a cheerful text or take them their favorite treat. There are plenty of ways! Above, I’ll use a photo of a home delivered meal because that’s what I’d do. But I wouldn’t cook it myself and I’d probably have someone like her dceliver it!
