Bartholomew Leo Chabotte “Bart” passed away on October 13, 2026, at the age of 60. Bart was a free spirit who made his own way in life. He started working as a roofer and carpenter before eventually finding his true calling as a truck driver and most recently running an engine repair service as a mechanic. Driving trucks became more than just a job for him; he loved the freedom of the open road.
Bart was a kindhearted man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Those who knew him will remember his kindness, his unique personality, and his favorite saying, “Cheese and rice!”—a phrase that will bring a smile to the faces of those who knew him best. Bart enjoyed the simple things in life, especially wearing his favorite Hawaiian shirts and having a cold Busch Light. These little things were part of what made him who he was and will continue to bring back fond memories for those who loved him.
Bart is preceded in death by his father Francis L. Chabotte, Sr. formerly of Platteville, WI. He is survived by his mother, Linda Huntley of Connecticut; his three children, Dallas Meyers of Iowa, Kirsten Redfield of Texas, and Katie Eleazer of Connecticut; and his seven grandchildren. He also leaves behind his five siblings: Pamela Boland of Illinois, Francis L. Chabotte, Jr. of Iowa, Richard Chabotte of Connecticut, Christine Liskiewicz of Connecticut, Nicole Moriarty of Connecticut, and his spouse Lisa Chabotte of Mineral Point, WI. along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Barts’ family will miss him more than words can express. His passing leaves a deep sadness in the lives of those who loved him, but they will continue to hold close to the memories they shared and the person he was.
Bart will be remembered for his free spirit, his newfound love of riding his Harley, his love of truck driving, his kind heart, and the little things that made him unforgettable.
May he find peace on the open road, with the wind at his back, wearing a Hawaiian shirt and holding a Busch Light. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
