Donald R. McGuire

HIGHLAND – Donald R. McGuire, age 86, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, at Crestridge Assisted Living, surrounded by his loving family.

Donald was born on May 8, 1940, to Robert and Francis McGuire. He grew up in Highland and graduated from Highland High School in 1958. In 1961, he was called to serve with the National Guard at Fort Lewis, Washington.

Donald was a hardworking and respected businessman who, alongside his wife, Pat, owned and operated P.W. Hennessy & Sons Construction Company. Together, they devoted many years to the business. Donald took great pride in his work and in the many relationships he built throughout the years.

Donald had a deep love for his hometown and believed strongly in giving back to the community that meant so much to him. He served on the Highland High School Board, was a member of the Highland Lions Club, and was one of the founders of the Highland Historical Society, helping preserve the community’s history and heritage for future generations. His Catholic faith was also an important part of his life, and he generously shared his time and faith by teaching religious education classes at St. Anthony Catholic Church.

When he was not working or serving his community, Donald loved spending time outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and especially enjoyed the friendships, stories, and memories that came with those pursuits.

Above all else, Donald’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by Pat, his loving wife of 64 years, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, devotion, hard work, and countless treasured memories.

He is also survived by his children, Jerry (Jane) McGuire, Steve (Patrice) McGuire, and Traci (Chris Carlson) McGuire; his grandchildren, Clint Havlik, Ross (Rachel) Havlik, Patrick McGuire, Macy McGuire, and Jared McGuire; his siblings, Pat (Pat) McGuire, Margie Pierick, Lynda Weber, and Dan McGuire; his sister-in-law, Jean McGuire; his brother-in-law, Mike Popp; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Francis McGuire; his brothers, Tom and Jim McGuire; his sisters, Donna and Mary Jean; an infant daughter; and his sister-in-law, Jean McGuire brothers in law Gil Pierick, Lee Weber, Lavern Faber, nephew Jeff McGuire, and niece Megan McGuire.

Donald’s family would like to thank the staff at Crestridge Assisted Living Center for their compassionate care, kindness, and support during Donald’s time there. They also extend their gratitude to Highland EMS and the physicians and staff at Upland Hills Health for their help, care, and assistance over time.

Donald lived a full and meaningful life centered on family, faith, hard work, community, and the outdoors. He was proud of his Highland roots and spent his life contributing to the community he called home. Those who knew Donald will remember his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, his willingness to serve others, and the many stories and memories shared over the years.

His presence will be deeply missed, but the values he lived by, the community he helped build, and the memories he created will remain with his family and friends for generations to come.
