Joan C. Jorenby

Joan C. Jorenby, age 76 of Hollandale, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on September 23, 2026, at UW Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Joan was born on April 19, 1950, the oldest child of Melvin and Menola (White) Wittman in Dodgeville. She graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1968.

Joan met the love of her life, Stuart Jorenby, through Stuart’s sister-in-law. The pair married on August 13, 1987, at York Church in the town of York. The couple welcomed their son, Joshua in 1988.

Joan loved a good sale. There was rarely a place she went that she couldn’t find some little trinket to purchase. When not out shopping, she loved caring for her many animals. She cherished her horses, cows, donkeys, cats and dogs, and any other animal she could care for. While caring for them, she could often be heard singing and listening to various country western and Christian artists and songs. Joan was a Gunsmoke fan and watched it with Stuart whenever it was on. She also shared a deep-love of Supernatural with Josh (and Stuart joined them later).

Joan was known for her homemade birthday cakes with a special whipped frosting and her lemon meringue. She also made a mean crispy liver and onions.

Joan will be missed most for her infectious laugh, delicious home cooking, and her pure heart.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and step-mother, Georgetta Wittman; brother, Wayne Wittman; aunts, Alma (Stanley) Halverson and Florence (Harold) Gilbertson; and uncle, Walter W. Wittman.

Joan is survived by her husband, Stuart; son, Joshua; step-son, Mark; step-brother Stan Olson; other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joan’s memory to the UW Cancer Carbone Center.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Luloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made at www.houckfuneralhomes.com

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at UW Hospital, especially Mackenzie, Meg, Daro, Isaiah, Ella, and Drs. Pipp-Dahm and Schmidt for their incredible kindness and care of Joan and the family.
