William “Bill” L. Winter

William “Bill” L. Winter, 87, of Tomahawk, WI, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at his home with loved ones by his side. Bill was born to Aldro and Dorothy (Schumacher) Winter on July 10, 1939, in Madison, WI. He was united in marriage to Clara (Zuhde) on July 11, 1992.

Bill served his country in the Wisconsin Air National Guard. He spent his career in banking and working for the State of WI Dept of Commerce. Bill was always involved in his community; he was a lifelong Lion and a volunteer firefighter in Cobb, WI. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hosting and singing karaoke. He and Clara loved live music, dancing, traveling, and being “Winter” Texans.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Clara; daughter, Michele (John) Soehnlein; stepdaughters, Michaela Torcaso, Dawn Torcaso, and Angela Shanley; son, Daniel (Gail) Winter; stepson, Mark Torcaso; 18 grandchildren; sister, Cheryl (Bruce) Evans; and brothers, Richard (Phyllis) Winter, and John (Pat) Winter. He was preceded in death by his parents; three stepchildren, Pam, Frank, and Tim; and two grandchildren, Frank, and Nicholes.

Celebration of life & luncheon will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Essen Haus 514 E Wilson St, Madison, WI.
