John M. Tredinnick, age 56, of Holmen, formerly of Dodgeville passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 after a long illness. John was born on October 23, 1969 in Dodgeville, WI, the youngest child of Donald and Cathryn (Jewell) Tredinnick. He graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1988 and then attended St. Cloud University, St. Cloud, MN, graduating in 1993.
John developed a strong work ethic early in life, delivering newspapers in Dodgeville for the Wisconsin State Journal. He continued this after graduating college working various jobs. Most notably he worked for 13 years in the Medical Logistics area at the Mayo Hospital in LaCrosse, WI, delivering medical supplies across the hospital. He later worked for Festival Foods in Holmen, WI across various departments.
John’s greatest passion in life was writing. Inspired by a high school English teacher, he began working on a novel to be titled “Next Breath, New Hope” about the organ transplant process. He traveled extensively to professional writing seminars to hone his skills and conducted in-depth interviews with legal and medical professionals to ensure his writing was as realistic as possible. Unfortunately, we will never know the ending.
John was an avid sports fan, enjoying many hours watching the Badgers, Packers and Brewers. He always had an interesting fact or bit of trivia on whichever team he was watching at the time. He especially enjoyed watching his nephews play hockey from elementary school through their collegiate careers. He became actively involved in coaching youth hockey in Onalaska, WI as an assistant coach helping his Squirt level team win the state championship one year.
Throughout his life, John enjoyed getting together with relatives and friends and always tried to meet with his high school classmates when in Dodgeville. He always had a positive outlook on life, supported his family and friends through both good and bad times, and was quick with a kind word or a (usually bad) joke.
John is survived by his five brothers Kim (Toni) Tredinnick, Savage, MN; Ken (Cyndi) Tredinnick, Omaha, NE; Ed (Julie) Tredinnick, Onalaska, WI; Steve (Elizabeth) Tredinnick, Dillon, CO; Brian Tredinnick, Dodgeville, WI; his sister Susan (Timothy) Moore, College Station, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Cathryn Tredinnick.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:25 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in East Side Cemetery in Dodgeville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Dodgeville Area Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (DASFI) for a potential future scholarship in John’s name at Dodgeville High School.
