Is anyone listening?

Dear Editor:

As a concerned Sr citizen of Dodgeville, I recently called the Dodgeville School District twice about another referendum. I had to leave voice messages and did request my concerns be passed onto the Board.

The school board seems to have an attitude towards Sr citizens. Taxes are high enough in our area. This is Iowa County not Dane County. The more taxes we have to pay the less money we have to donate to other worthy needs. For every million $ in referendums it’s a loss to a main street business. Dodgeville is becoming a tax nite mare.

The high taxes will also saddle our younger generation, not help them.

And when the new city library taxes are added to our property taxes, it will become an even more financial burden to us Sr citizens.

All taxpayer funded positions (schools, city, county, state, federal) need to understand there isn’t a money tree. If every taxpayer paid employee is given an annual cost of living raise plus benefits, it will bankrupt us all! Sr citizens don’t get these raises!

If you are a “yes” person vs an independent thinker, then you probably should not hold an elected position just to spend and raise our taxes. When is enough? We encourage all to speak out, especially Sr citizens. Douglas and Patricia Thompson Dodgeville, WI
