COBB – Arthur “Art” J. Heuer, age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at CrestRidge Assisted Living after suffering from COPD and congestive heart failure. Art was born January 23, 1932, to Arthur and Bertha (Fingerson) Heuer. He graduated from Cobb High School in 1950 and married his high school sweetheart, Sonnie Bishop, on September 19, 1953. Art and Sonnie raised three daughters.
Art farmed nearly his entire life, taking over the family farm at the age of 15, when his father passed away. He also sold feed for Nutrena Feeds as a side job while farming. When he retired from farming, he then worked at Lands’ End for several years. Art and Sonnie enjoyed their annual trip to Wisconsin Dells with their boat. They also looked forward to vacationing in Arizona and Florida for a couple weeks each winter, until their health made it difficult to continue.
Art was preceded in death by his wife, Sonnie; two sisters, Geneva Chafin and Fama Rule; two brother-in-laws, Ron Chafin and Elmer Rule; his parents, Arthur and Bertha Heuer; Sonnie’s parents, Charles and Anita Bishop; and two brother-in-law’s, Truman and Royce (Marilyn) Bishop.
Art is survived by daughters, Sharon Pete; Jill (Dan) Allen and Lori (Peter) Melby; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren with one more expected early fall. They include Todd (Jennie) Pete and children Hayden and Dawson; Brian (Shonda) Pete and children Jaelyn, Beckum, and Tenleigh; Brent (Lynnea) Allen and children Finnegan, Harper, and Everly; Chad (Sarah) Allen and children Sutherlin and Bo; Joshua (Elizabeth) Melby and children Aliyah, Lydia, Isaiah and Micah; Brittany (Daniel) VonEbers and children Evelyn, Josiah, Ruth and number “19”; Christine Melby; and Angela Melby and son Amari Holliman. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Staff at CrestRidge Assisted Living, St. Croix Hospice, and Upland Hills Health. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials will be donated to some of Art’s favorite charities.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday June 23, 2036, at Peace Lutheran Church in Cobb, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
