Reese no-hits Pecatonica, Barneveld shuts out the Vikings 11-0

Lauren Reese dominated Tuesday night on the mound as she no-hit Pecatonica, striking out 14 batters and not allowing a walk as she pitched a perfect game. Offensively, Addison Carden hit a grand slam, and Isabel Pohlman hit a two-run shot to help lead the Eagles to an 11-0 shutout of the Vikings at Pecatonica.

Barneveld put up two runs in the second after Reagan Knight doubled to lead off the inning and scored on Eliza Gordon’s single. Hannah Esch’s bunt single ultimately scored Knight for the 2-0 lead.

It was 3-0 in the top of the fourth inning when Carden connected on a grand slam home run to left field making it a 7-0 game. Barneveld tacked on four more runs in the top half of the sixth inning. Esch scored on Addison Walker’s ground out, and Reese hit a line drive double to center to score Aleea Norton, who earlier reached base on an error. Pohlman then connected on a tworun homer to center for the final score of 11-0.

Not only was Reese dominating on the mound throwing a no-hitter, she was also 2×4 at the plate with two doubles, scoring a run and an RBI. Knight led Barneveld at the plate going 3×4 and a double. Barneveld totaled 12 hits in the game. Gordon and Pohlman also had two hits each. Barneveld is now 17-6 this season. They travel to Dodgeville for a game Thursday, May 14, they travel to River Ridge on Tuesday, May 19.
