River Valley picked up a win over Viroqua in non-conference softball action Friday then lost a pair at the Stoughton tourney Saturday.
The Blackhawks handled Viroqua 12-2. They pounded out nine hits and took advantage of six errors.
The Blackhawks got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Nahalia Willey singled to center field, Ella Hillebrand singled down the left field line, Alyssa Nachreiner grounded into a fielder’s choice, and Kyllie Smith tripled to center field, each scoring one run.
River Valley added one run in the second after Viroqua committed an error.
The Blackhawks added a run in the third on a Josie Mahoney grounded out.
The Blackhawks scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ella Myers singled for an rbi. and Ella Prochaska was hit by a pitch, forcing in a run. An error scored a run. Smith hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and Mahoney singled, driving in two runs.
Ashlyn Stokes earned the win for the Blackhawks. The lefty gave up four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking none.
Brooklyn Stokes and Bella DeViney each turned in two hits for the Blackhawks. Smith, Nachreiner, Myers, and Mahoney each drove in two runs.
The Hawks lost 15-0 to Lakeside Lutheran and 8-2 to Stoughton in tourney action Saturday.
LL scored 10 in the first and five in the third for the win.
The Blackhawks picked up three singles, one each by Ella Hillebrand, Alyssa Nachreiner and Kyllie Smith.
Brooklyn Stokes and Maizey Strobusch both were in the circle for the Hawks.
Viroqua had 14 hits in their attack. River Valley had a 6-5 edge in hits vs Stoughton but five errors by the Blackhawks helped the Vikings.
Mahoney and Hillebrand both had two hits for the Blackhawks. Bella De Viney doubled and Nahalia Willey singled.
Ashlyn Stokes pitched for the Hawks. She gave up five hits, eight runs (five earned), walked six and struck out one.
