River Valley was cruising along with a 6-1 lead heading into the final frame but Platteville did their volcano impression and erupted.

The eruption led to a six run seventh that ended up as a 7-6 Lady Hillmen win in the SWC softball game Thursday.

Platteville used six hits to send in the six runs in their big frame. Maggie Grabandt had the big hit in the frame, driving in two runs with a single.

River Valley had a big first at bat scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 5-1 in the bottom of the first. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Kyllie Smith that drove in three.

The Blackhawks added a run in the third. Josie Mahoney was struck by a pitch forcing in a run to put the score at 6-1.

Ashlyn Stokes started in the circle for the Blackhawks. The left-hander surrendered six hits and four runs over six innings, striking out five and walking one.

Brooklyn Stokes came on in relief for the Hawks.
