Ava Ingwell was unstoppable at the plate, powering Mineral Point to a dominant 24-0 shutout over Darlington on Thursday.
Ingwell led the offensive surge with five RBIs on three hits, including a two-run blast to left in the opening inning. She stayed hot all game, adding RBI singles in both the second and third innings.
Mineral Point wasted no time setting the tone. Austy Kinch launched a solo home run to start the scoring in the first, followed by an RBI single from Tenleigh Bockhop and Ingwell’s two-run homer to quickly build a lead.
The offense kept rolling in the second inning, where the Pointers piled on six runs. Kinch drove in two with a double, Jadyn Schultz added another RBI double, Aida Tuttle knocked in a run with a single, and both Ingwell and Chloe McVay brought runners home to stretch the lead.
Another five runs came across in the third. Kinch and Bockhop each delivered RBI singles, Ingwell added another, and Mc Vay chipped in with an RBI groundout.
The fourth inning put the game completely out of reach, as Mineral Point erupted for nine more runs. Contributions came from throughout the lineup, including RBIs from Sadie Miller, Tuttle, Bockhop, McVay, Kate James, and Jaycee Tibbits, along with productive outs that continued to drive in runs.
In the circle, Bockhop earned the win with two perfect innings, striking out six without allowing a hit or walk. Tuttle followed with two strong innings in relief, giving up just one hit while striking out four. Mineral Point racked up 23 hits in the game, with Bockhop, Ingwell, Tuttle, and Kinch each recording three hits. Schultz, Tibbits, and McVay also had multi-hit performances. The Pointers were aggressive on the bases with four steals and flawless defensively, committing no errors. Kinch led the team in fielding chances with nine.
