Johnson’s two hit, 15 strikeout performance keys Dodgeville baseball win over River Valley

River Valley left hander Quincey Blakley was tough in a SWC matchup Thursday, allowing Dodgeville only four hits but Nathan Johnson was tougher for the Dodgers.

Johnson surrendered a double to Kaden Plumley and a single to Blakley but the rest of the time he was striking out 15 of the needed 21 outs. He held the Blackhawks scoreless as the Dodgers won 3-0.

Sophomore designated hitter Blake Stodola hit a shot off Blakley’s glove and scored pinch runner Braydenn Husom and Jentry Olson who had walked. An error on the play, the sixth for River Valley in the game, accounted for one of the runs.

Blakley took the loss for River Valley. The hurler went six innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out five and walking one.

Bryce Crubaugh-Lockard, Olson, Halverson, and Stodola each collected hit for the Dodgers.
