MONROE, WIS. – The Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin (CFSW) today announced the establishment of the CatSnip Fund, created to support the health and welfare of cats in Lafayette, Green, Iowa, and Grant Counties.
The CatSnip Fund will provide ongoing support for low-cost spay and neuter clinics, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs, and community education related to cat overpopulation and responsible ownership. As the fund grows, grant eligibility may expand to additional counties within the CFSW region.
Across rural Wisconsin, cats are born into circumstances they did not choose. Often into cold, scarcity, and uncertainty. They are not the problem. The absence of affordable, accessible spay and neuter options is. The CatSnip Fund was created with that distinction in mind: to address the root cause, so fewer animals face a difficult beginning, and fewer communities are left without the resources to help.
“Cat overpopulation in rural Wisconsin is a serious and often overlooked problem,” said Linda Gebhardt, Director of Donor Services of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin. “The CatSnip Fund represents a lasting investment in humane, community-based solutions. We are grateful to the donor who established this fund and look forward to supporting the organizations working to make a difference in these counties.”
A $35,000 matching gift opportunity is currently available. New gifts to the CatSnip Fund will be matched dollar for dollar until the match is reached, bringing the campaign total to $70,000. The match is available through December 31, 2026.
Donations to the CatSnip Fund may be made online at tinyurl.com/CatSnip or by contacting the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin at (608) 758-0883.
