
LILY PETTIT, a former Iowa-Grant High School athlete, had a busy week for the Lakeland University softball team.
Pettit, a 5-1 sophomore P/INF, averaged 4.0 innings on the mound in four games that resulted in four wins for the Muskies.
She notched two wins and a save in the four outings.
The week was highlighted by a five-inning, complete-game shutout (10-0) against Edgewood University.
Pettit stymied the Eagles to just three hits and needed just 58 pitches to earn her team-leading ninth win.
Her first win of the week, 4-1 over Rockford University (III), had six of 20 batters reach base in 4.2 innings of work.
Pettit earned her second save of the season in an 11-8 victory over Dominican University (III) where she allowed three earned runs on six hits. Lakeland (23-12-1, 15-5) plays at Benedictine University (III) on Friday before hosting Marian University the following day.

DAELYNN RHOADES, a former Barneveld High School athlete, made three appearances for the Cornell College (Ia) softball team last week. Rhoades, a 5-1 senior P/INF, picked up another win, her sixth of the season, with a 6-3 victory over Monmouth College (Ill).
In 5.0 innings against the Scots, she allowed two runs on a pair of hits, three walks, and a wild pitch.
Rhoades also struck out four of the 20 batters she faced.
She also threw a total of 6.2 innings against Luther College (la) and Knox College (III), both victories for the Rams, but Rhoades was not the pitcher of record in either contest.
Collectively, she allowed eight earned runs on seven hits, five walks, and a hit batter while striking out eight. Cornell (22-12, 9-5) finishes its regular season at Central College on Thursday before hosting Ripon College on Sunday afternoon.
LEYTEN BOWERS, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, continues to be a potent offensive weapon for the UW-Whitewater baseball team. Bowers, a 6-0 senior INF, batted .480 (12-for-25) in the latest six wins for the Warhawks.
Five of the six games resulted in multiple hits for Bowers, including four doubles and three home runs.
Each roundtripper was a 2-run blast; one coming against UW-Oshkosh and the other two against UW-River Falls. For the week, Bowers scored six runs and drove in seven as he raised his batting average to .362 and his slugging percentage to .647.
ETHAN WICKMAN, a former River Valley High School athlete, was rewarded for his stellar performance for the Warhawks.
Wickman, a 6-1 junior pitcher, earned his first save of the season in a 9-3 win over the Falcons.
Entering the game in the seventh inning, Wickman needed only 45 pitches to retire nine consecutive Falcons in the 9-3 victory.
He allowed no baserunners and struck out two batters in 3.0 innings of work.
Earlier in the week, Wickman was called out of the pen against UW-Oshkosh where he allowed an earned run on two hits and a walk.
He threw 30 pitches to eight Titans in 1.2 innings on the bump.

DOM MCVAY, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, added a pair of multiple-hit games to the Warhawks’s offensive assault last week. McVay, a 5-9 junior OF, also hit over .400 for UW-W, specifically .438 (10- for-23), and has currently the fourth-best average on the team at .315.
He opened the week with a 4-for-4 performance at the plate and two runs batted in (RBI) against UW-O. One of those hits was a double, and he would collect four more two-base hits as the week progressed.
In total, McVay crossed home plate six times while picking up four RBI. The 9-3 win over UW-RF last Saturday clinched the outright conference championship, No. 24, for the Warhawks.
UW-W (31-3, 23-0) plays a make-up game against UW- Eau Claire on Wednesday before hosting UW-Stout this weekend, then traveling to Ripon for the final game of the regular season next Tuesday.

BRYN MEYER, a former Barneveld High School athlete, paced the Loras College (la) women’s track team last week.
Meyer, a freshman sprinter/jumper, recorded four top-five finishes at the Rittgers Invitational, hosted by Coe College (la).
She bested a field of 18 athletes in the 100-meter dash after winning the event in 12.63 seconds.
Meyer was a winner again in the 4x100m relay where she ran the second leg on a team that won the event in 48.51.
She took second place in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet 2 inches (5.23m).
It came on her second attempt of the day and was her only jump over five meters.
Meyer also garnered fourth place in the 200m after running a time of 25.92. Loras travels to Pella, la., and Central College, for the A-R-C Outdoor Championships beginning Thursday.
LIAM STUMPF, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, picked up a win for the Central Michigan University (CMU) baseball team last week.
Stumpf, a 6-0 redshirt senior pitcher, closed out an 11-6 triumph over Oakland University (Mich) by throwing the final 4.0 innings.
He allowed one earned run to the Golden Grizzlies on three hits, two walks, and a wild pitch.
Stumpf threw 55 pitches to 17 batters as he improved his season mark to 2-1.
He was called out of the bullpen again last Saturday in a 6-1 defeat to Miami (Ohio).
Stumpf tossed 26 pitches to nine Redhawks, allowing two earned runs on three hits to accompany one strikeout.
CMU (18-23, 9-15) hosts Grace Christian University (Mich) on Wednesday before the Northern Illinois Huskies come to Theunissen Stadium for a weekend series.
LEXIE WEIER, a former Mount Horeb athlete from Mineral Point, turned in a top performance for the UW-W women’s track team last weekend.
Weier, a senior horizontal jump specialist, was the highest finisher from a Division III school in the triple jump at the Drake Alternative Meet.
Her best effort on the day was 36-7 (11.18m) to earn her third place in the event behind athletes from UW-Parkside (DII) and UW-M (DI).
There were a total of 10 DIII athletes from four schools participating in the triple jump.
UW-W’is at UW-La Crosse this weekend for the conference championship.
ISAAC HILL, a former lowa-Grant High School athlete, was part of the scoring quintet for the Edgewood University men’s golf team last week.
Hill, a 6-2 graduate student, finished as the No. 4 golfer for the Eagles at the Legends Classic.
He carded a 174 (87-87) and finished tied for 43rd place at the BSC Legends Classic contested at The Bull at Pinehurst Farms and The Bog.
The Eagles placed seventh out of nine teams with a final score of 649 (323-326).
Edgewood hosts its own quadrangular on Friday at Bishops Bay Country Club.
ELLE PECHAN, a former Barneveld High School athlete, helped the Loras College (la) women’s golf team last weekend.
Pechan, a sophomore, finished fourth for the Duhawks at the Wartburg Spring Invite.
After a two-day total of 171 (85-86), she placed in a four-way tie for 54th. She had six pars on her scorecard after the first round, followed by seven on day two.
The Duhawks finished ninth among 10 teams with a final score of 684 (346-338).
The Wartburg Spring Invitational was the final meet this season for the Duhawks.
JAMESON JOHNSON, a former Pecatonica High School athlete, was part of three wins by the Rock Valley College (III) baseball team last week.
Johnson, a 6-2 sophomore UTL, was among the starting nine for the Golden Eagles as they swept Kankakee Community College (III) and split with Black Hawk College-Moline (III).
Johnson tripled in a run in the first game against Kankakee, a 14-1 blowout for the Golden Eagles.
RVC (27-14) hosts the College of DuPage (III) and the College of Lake County (III) on Thursday and Sunday, respectively, with a road series at Sauk Valley Community College (III) on Friday.

ANNIE ROBINSON, a former Mineral Point High School athlete, was on the oval for the South Dakota State University women’s track team last Saturday.
Robinson, a freshman distance runner, was one of 77 athletes in the ** 5000m at the Kip Janvrin Open on the campus of Simpson College (la).
She placed 38th overall, and was the fourth Jackrabbit to cross the finish line, with a time of 18:14.73.
SDSU travels to Vermillion, SD, this weekend to compete in the South Dakota Challenge.
MCKENZIE KRUSE, a former River Valley High School athlete, was part of a strong performance for the UW-EC women’s track team last week.
Kruse, a sophomore multi-event athlete, and her 4×400 relay teammates, were on the track at the prestigious Drake Relays
With Kruse in the anchor role, the quartet finished with a time of 3:45.61 to finish sixth in the College Division race.
To reach the finals, the Blugolds qualified by running a 3:45.23.
UW-EC heads to UW-L this weekend for the conference finale.

Baumberger, a junior sprinter, was one of 36 athletes in the 100m at the Rittgers Invitational.
He crossed the finish line in 11.71 to finish 31st.

AIDEN MURPHY, a former Dodgeville High School athlete, notched his first win of the season for the Viterbo University baseball team last week.
Murphy, a 5-8 freshman pitcher, tamed the Sabrecats from Maranatha Baptist University with six innings of scoreless ball.
He scattered four hits while fanning a dozen of the 24 batters that came to the plate in the 8-4 triumph.
Viterbo (11-34, 7-25) begin CCAC tournament play on Wednesday.
HANNAH’ HEGLUND, a former River Valley High School athlete, concluded her season for the Edgewood women’s golf team last weekend.
Heglund, a 5-4 sophomore, was the No. 5 golfer for the Eagles at the Viking Invitational, hosted by Augustana College (III).
She tallied a score of 220 (107-113) over the Highland Municipal Springs Golf Course.
The Eagles finished eighth of nine teams with a final score of 725 (371- 354).
MCKENNA REILLY, a former Dodgeville High School athlete, helped the Edgewood women’s lacrosse team to a pair of wins last week.
Reilly, a 5-8 sophomore defender, caused a turnover during an 18-1 blowout of Beloit College and then recorded a ground ball in an 11-5 triumph over Cornell.
Edgewood (8-10, 6-3) plays at Aurora University (III) on Wednesday.
