What to do with the pond at the Iowa County Farm will have to wait further for a decision.
The Iowa County Board discussed the matter Tuesday after learning that there is a problem with the old pipes serving the pond and the fact it needs regular maintenance.
Grants are possible for the needs of the pond but the grant writers want to know more about its future.
Supervisor Bruce Paull asked how many people use the pond, feeling that needs some consideration.
The board decided the matter needs more study so it was sent back to the Land Conservation Committee for further review.
The board had a review of a draft LOC road agreement with Badger Hollow Wind Farm on the agenda and denied moving it forward. However it was noted that court action could result on the matter.
Badger Hollow plans to submit applications for the project in June with the road needed by July if everything is approved.
The vote on the matter was four yes and 12 no.
The board reinstated John Meyers as its chair then named Dave Gollon first vice chair and Mel Masters as second vice chair. Gollon and Masters were up for the first vice chair which Gollon won 11-8 after two votes, the first one tied. Masters then received more votes, 12-7, over Joan Davis for second vice chair.
When it came to committees, boards and commission appointments chairman Meyers made two temporary appointments but wanted to take some time to review now that new people are on the board. There will be a meeting later to address the appointments.
In other matters the board:
- -approved the contract for the new county administrator
- -approved the disaster declaration -approved reimbursement for citation costs with Gollon voting no.
- -approved the job description and will move forward for an Employee Relations Manager.
- -adopted Roberts Rules of Order and Iowa County Board Rules for the rules of the board.
