Did you know that every 8 minutes the American Red Cross responds to an emergency? There’s more to the Red Cross than giving blood. They offer training in CPR, First Aid, swimming and water safety and more. If you can’t give blood, they do accept donations. We give blood and there are two coming up in the Arena area. The Arena Fire and EMS is having another drive on June 26; River Valley High School’s is May 13 and Midland United Methodist Church on Hwy KP, Mazomanie is having a drive April 25th, 8 am to noon. We’ve signed up!

Every village and township in Wisconsin is suffering with the lack of EMTs and firemen. Arena Fire & EMS Facebook page is providing information on upcoming training. They also warn on burn permits availability or the suspension of permits because of winds or being too dry.
There’s a new restaurant in Arena. The Drift Bake House which was in Mazomanie. They are a bakery with locally sourced farm to fork food. They offer unique donuts and cold brew coffee. They make delicious pizzas too. At this time they are open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays through Mondays. They do prefer preorder calls everyday starting at 9 a.m. On election day, if you had your “I Voted” sticker on, if you ordered something you’d get a free donut.
We’re sorry we missed a week of the news but one of us had been busy getting ready for the Spring Election. We hope everyone got out and exercised their right to vote. The poll workers appreciated the words of thanks because there is lots of time, training, taking time out, and working the day. There will be another election in August and in November.
