Dear Editor,
It is well known that Donald Trump thinks that whatever he does is the biggest and the best. Sadly, one of the things at which he excells is the death of human beings. Let’s start with the murder of three Americans by his street thugs and the death of over thirty people detained in ICE concentration camps. Then there is his cut in USAID funds, which is estimated to lead to between 14 and 22 million preventable deaths according to a study published in the LANCET and subsequent analysis by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health. Millions of Americans will be more vulnerable to infectious diseases due to Trump pulling the USA out of the World Health Organization; and Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert Kennedy’s questioning of the reliability of vaccines will lead to an unknown number of additional deaths. Trump also cut billions of dollars from the NIH and other research organizaions which are looking for treatments for cancer and other afflictions.
However, the worst is yet to come. If Trump continues to destroy the infrastructure in Iran, especially the power plants, many millions more deaths could follow.
Finally, Trump’s legislation cutting millions of Americans from Medicaid and Snap will doubtless lead to the suffering and death of many of our fellow citizens. Meanwhile the Republicans, who could easily reign Trump in, will continue to do nothing.
